Theres no such thing as the best tip for anything. You have to experiment with tips and find out what feels best to you, and what works best for your style of play. Some people like hard tips, some like soft. Some like single layer, some like layered.
Its personal preference, nothing more. Some tips do have more quality control issues, so that could come up.... but for the most part just find what you like and stock up.

Shane was using a Kamui Brown hard. Efren swears by elk Masters. So here are 2 great players using completely different tips and there are a bunch of tips between those 2 kinds.

3rd. There is no equal. Here's a tip for ya. If you ever do plumbing don't chew your fingernails.
Completely agree. Then there's the price factor. Would you pay $25 for one Kamui tip or $25 for 10 Ultraskin tips? Even when Tom doesn't have his promotion, $5/tip is still very reasonable as opposed to $25 for one tip. You can get 5 tips for the price of one Kamui tip.
My recommendation for layered tips is Ultraskin and for single layer, Milk Duds from pooldawg. I've played with a Kamui Black Medium before and never went back ever since I found out about Ultraskin tips. Way more affordable, looks the same as Kamui Black, slightly softer and doesn't glaze as much.
the milk duds pooldawg8 sells are pretty nice. IMO, the layered tips are nice but I don't make any more balls with them than I do with a Le Pro or Triangle, so why spend the $$? softer seems easier to play with than harder. in the end, it's personal preference.
Ki-Techs... Single Layered made here in the USA unlike many mentioned.... Be very aware when buying tips that there are counterfeits out of most tips including the g2.... Do a little research before just buying something off ebay or the internet... The G2 fakes are a recent edition to the game... Too many companies in taiwan/china making tips and slapping whatever name you want on them for a buck a piece as long as you will order plenty...

The number one thing I ask for in a tip is consistency. Consistency through out the life of the tip as well as from tip to tip over a long period of time.
pooldawg8 has some excellent milk duds .. I can highly recommend them.
My favorite tip ever, so far, are Renfro's Ki-Tech tips. I need to order some more and see how consistent they are to each other, but the first 3 I ordered are still playing great and show very little wear.

i prefer the kamui brown soft on my playing cue and the odega jump break tip on my jump and break cues

And the next one will sound the same.... At some point tho someone will have different answers and maybe then it will be the Moori Jewel or the new talisman....
Things change all the time... So does the membership here... IF we stop answering questions even if they were already asked the forum will have even less activity and new comers will quickly leave before they eventually find the search bar....
