What exactly is it and are people using them today. I was told that people use them both on there playing cues but also use them on there break cue. Can someone explain the process of making it and would know the history behind them. I have also heard that Earl Strickland uses them on his playing shaft. Looking for facts, fiction and anything in between. I think it would make for good conversation.

They are Elkmaster tips (usually) that have been soaked in milk and then compressed until dry. They are MUCH harder than OEM Elkmasters, which are very soft. I have one on the Willie Speed conversion I have and it hits pretty well. I haven't used it enough to know anything about it's mushrooming habits however.

like pasteurized mike from the grocery store? Compress it how , like in a vice? How did someone come up with this idea? It would seem like a lot of work goes into it for something that you will be replacing every 6 months or less.

You do not make them .. you buy them from one of our members, 'pooldawg8' ..
They are very affordable .. and he makes some terrific duds.

Worth your time to look him up .. many players never consider using anything else after they hit with a nice milk dud.

i have been trying to find someone locally that plays with it. I will have to look up his posts and see what he has to say abut it. would like to try making it buy buying is a lot easier.

Actually there are other people that make them up too.

If you care that a stacked leather tip, has glue lines shown when radially trimmed, then you might like milk duds.
Other than that reason, there are plenty of stacked leather tips that outperform milk duds.

I'll second this opinion. They are the best tips I've ever played with. Hold shape well, resist glazing, I get excellent spin without a mushy feel.

Don't bother making them.
Just get them from Jeff/pooldawg8.
He's done all the homework already.
The time they need to soaked and the pressure and time they need to be pressed .

Thepip;5213346 Compress it how said:
You have to compress it inside a 14mm I.D. tube otherwise you'd just flatten the tip.

Just drop the $12 for 3 custom made ready to install MD's from AZ member Pooldawg8 shipped. There are trade 'secrets' to making the premium MD other than a Elkmaster, quart of milk and a $50 tip press.

I know, I tried several different 'recipes' ( probably like allot of members )about a year ago and they were nowhere close to the quality and consistency of Jeff's. HIs are Firm but spin the ball unreal. Wear super and hold up great and come ready to install.

I bought 3 from Jeff after repeat customers good reviews to try one out a few months ago and have ordered more. Now I cut any tip off any cue I buy immediately and install Jeff's MD.

You can't go wrong with pooldawg8 Dawgduds, and the Jeff's prices are ridiculously low.
Many knowledgeable players use the Dawgduds from Jeff

I've used those but prefer hard kamui black.
I've used them and wizard exclusively for over a year by now and they are both excellent.
In MY opinion much better than that milkdud treatment.
Just get a hard tip and get it over with.
A hard kamui or wizard will do the job to perfection.

Milk Duds are an improved version of the single layered Elk Master tips. Though I've never personally used them, a lot of members here seem to have good experiences with them. I personally prefer layered tips due to less mushrooming and maintenance. I use Ultraskin tips that Tom Hay sells here on azb. Send him a message if you're interested, he occasionally has sales for 10 tips for $25.

Don't buy Kamui...overpriced crap.
