The Hustlers, Season 1, Episode 7

I simply love the show....
Hustlers..
Street Outlaws
Counts Kustoms
Gas Monkey
<~~~~~~~missing Monster Garage

Take away reality TV and you got the news and Halmark
Screw that:

Jebus are we related? I like all of those. I have to admit I even like the F N' L Demolition theater too:thumbup:

Great reality show! Looking forward to tonite's episode!
Go Team Free Money!

I was in Dutch harbor, Alaska before the show Deadliest Catch. The place was filled with ex-cons and suicidal outcasts, as the only labor pool for the captain's to hire from. No matter what you did before, if you had the balls, you could earn a paycheck.

More than a decade after "deadliest catch" reality series, captains take in hundreds of applications from college graduates and daredevils trying to get on board. Dutch harbor economy boomed.

Likewise, Nome, Alaska was a small mining town of dredgers mining for gold in the shallows of the Bering Sea. Since the three seasons of "Bering Sea Gold" the population of dredgers has increased with entrepreneurs watching the show making the trip and buying materials to build their own dredges and try their hand at gold mining.

After three seasons of the Hustlers, it is not out of the realm of possibility that a bump in cue sales, cases, chalk, etc and above all, pool hall attendance will be a reality. But first the show has to take hold and flourish. It can do that with our support.

I'm in full support and waiting anxiously for the next episode.
Who else is watching live?

I am just happy to have some kind of pool on tv, Is it the best, I dont know about that. But its not the worst!

It has gotten better with every show. I'm going to keep watching.

And the girls are hot!

Thanks Rick

I dont see mma fans dogging TUF.

MMA fans also fight for sport. I don't think you can compare dancing with celebrities to mixed martial arts.

TUF = The Ultimate Fighter, a reality show geared around mma.

The fighters live under one roof for _____ weeks while they train and compete against each other in a structured format for a UFC contract. At the house there is lots of alcohol which creates lots of drama. The show is not all about fighting but the point is I dont see mma fans dogging the show or other aspects of mma like I do the pool fans dogging pool and lots of other things in general on here.

What did the stereotype of Tom Cruise spinning a cue like a katana blade do for the sport?
This show is definitely a pool product, and a viable one in this day and age of pool being relegated to espn space filler between NCAA women's softball and spelling bee national finals.

I certainly agree Mr Kid.

With this show, regardless of the many different opinions, the game stands a so much better chance of surviving. The game itself is beautiful but we're starving.

Once they, TruTV or ?, sees potential ( yes I'm optimistic ) ... maybe they'll think of adding real players that also would have to audition as actors.

I like the show ... but I really like the show because it's about pool

So let me get this straight, if there's a beef over a pool match on The Hustlers it had to be fake and made up cause that would never happen for big money....but everyone saw Scott and Alex cursing at each other last night at 2AM towards the end of their 3rd day battling...was that fake too?

What can't happen is Duddy s shape from the 8 to the 9 for her 4th game. She's nearly straight in on 8 and somehow got straight in on 9 at other end of the table. The angle she had and the speed she hit it wouldn't go half as far as the cueball ended up. It's like pro wrestling.

Pay it Pay it Bitcihs!

Amy jumped the shark!!! I realy dont like her, If my partners girl did that she would have to go!!!

Really you got any numbers to back that up ,, cause I've yet to find numbers that support that claim ,, I can see the gold because it's rising like a tidal wave don't need a show to know that ,, tell me how many Bush people are rushing out there

I watched part of tonights episode because it ran along side the U.S. Open Golf ,, but from what I saw I don't for the life of know how anyone can think that's drawing players into the game ,, there's no Tom cruise brushing his hair back to the ware wolves of London , there's a couple idiots arguing during a match do you really think that makes anyone want to grab a cue and run to a pool hall ,, I hardly think so

If you are still running with this "staged pro wrestling" theory, you seriously need to read the latest issue of billiards digest and the main cover story. The editor of Billiards Digest interviews the producer of the show and it's all stated loud and clear. The matches and results are without a doubt real.

These are not professional actors. No way on earth you could get the reactions, facial stress, annoyed looks unless you had Oscar winning actors. That match tonight and the tension bleeding out of the screen during the Gary and Jenn match was 100% authentic. No way to stage that. He ran to the hill and she came back. And the Gary blowup was absolutely from a man who just lost $1000 and hangs dry wall for a living.

Great episode, great series.

All I can say is my wife had no interest in pool until this show. She loves it can't wait till Friday for it to come on. She is going to the pool hall with me tommorow something she almost never does.

If it will bring more people and attention to the sport so be it!

Best episode yet! Amy was rocking that cheerleader outfit and Jen with that amazing comeback!

Not to mention Jens break cueball headed dead for the side and they cut the film ,, there was another shot where Gary's just fires at a ball no one does that for big cash I'm waving the BS flag not buying a minute of it

The show is so much more enjoyable for me now that someone has seemed to understand that the continuity of the edited pool matches matter. I look forward to watching the remainder of the season.

I saw that shot. It was spinning hard so it probably did stop short of the pocket.
Nonetheless, it comes down to two choices:

1) the matches are fake

2) several of the actual cast members ( pro and semi pro players) and the producer have all gone on record stating the matches are indeed very real with real money on the line, but the editing may make it appear to seem otherwise.

To be clear , you are choosing #1 - to call everyone a liar?

Great episode, great series.

i was born at night just not last night ,, these are not hidden cameras in the corner , they are well aware of the cameras that are on them ,, now some fool watching who does not know any better might believe this is all real but anybody with half a brain knows the players are pumping it up ,, that does not make it a bad thing but anyone who thinks this is real is clueless

Right now, you are calling the editor of billiards digest, the millionaire producer of the series and president of the production company, as well as multiple cast members, rail birds who were there and production company employees all liars and "clueless".

With that type of opposition, you will surely have to drum up some facts and/or eye witnesses to the match fixing.

In absence of that, your accusations really don't hold any merit.

I'm not trying to be confrontational, but trying to get the facts on the table.

Interviews Pilgrim Studios President and CEO Craig Piligian (Emmy award winner for "survivor" series and producer of "American Chopper" and "Dirty Jobs")

"This kind of reality show is a docu-series" explained Piligian. "It evolves from week to week. It's a betting show, with players trying to knock the person above them off the list."

"These games are real," Piligian emphasized. "They are playing for real money. You can watch the game unfold, and there is a real winner and a real loser."

Well you might stake your life on pool players and producers but I know just a tad better than that ,,

Please reference the post above from interview in Billiards Digest. You called the Emmy award winning producer of "Survivor" clueless.
