I think Sandcastle needs its own version of Dennis Walsh. I didn't even know they were having a qualifier, but I did know that Red Shoes was!

Maybe next year...

Sorry Dan. We will let Ed Liddawi of Sandcastle know to try to get it posted here more often next year

fourth appearance for Cozzolino. He qualified out of Drexeline in Philadelphia one year.

Oh, yeah. Madison Wisconsin native, Ron Dobosenski probably does not want to be called Chicago's Ron Dobosenski. For those of you who do not know, He is Frank "Sailor"
Stellman's prize student, who has started playing pool again, after taking about a 20 year hiatus for that damn work thing a lot of people are talking about.

Thanks to Kevin Deane of Chicago for
(a) putting Tom in for the Chicago qualifier and the Des Moines qualifier and for taking him out to New York and covering his expenses:
(b) getting in the Des Moines Qualifier to help them get a nice round number; and
(c) supporting Straight Pool by becoming a member of the 14.1 Club!:thumbup::thumbup:

Fun to see people from my local pool hall here! Ron and Walter, the two on the right side of the picture in the OP, are guys I see pretty much every weekend. Ron has been very generous in giving pointers to me over the last year, something I'm incredibly appreciative of!

Ron took first place in the qualifier, you probably know. I see there is an article about it in the Wisconsin State Journal: http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/lo...cle_33db8fb6-13e7-5106-bb87-ee2bca384d2a.html

I just met Walter Ma. He is a student of Frank "Sailor" Stellman, another Wisconsin guy (Racine) in the photo. Sailor also taught Ron and is in the Straight Pool Hall of Fame. Walter was in pool heaven at Red Shoes that night. The smile never left his face.

Yeah, I just saw that article too, it's a nice write up on Ron! Nice to see a good positive pool story in the news!

I have never met Sailor, but I see quite a few of his cues around here.

Wish I had made it down to watch the qualifier, would have been fun.

Yeah i know, i was as shocked as you were !!!

Ahem... "NOBODY KNEW ABOUT IT!"

No disrespect intended to anybody playing in that qualifier (I don't know any of them) but I wouldn't want to embarrass myself in a high caliber tournament just because I was 2 out of 7 who knew about the super secret qualifying event!

I know it sounds like it, but no sour grapes here. I couldn't take the time out to play in the main event even it I lucked into a qualifying position.

Actually, a few people did know about it. I saw the below flyer on facebook and possibly here. I am not sure where people usually publicize their tournaments, but I saw these out there for quite a while.

Eddie Kwok once again won the NAPL qualifying spot at Amsterdam.
