Hey guys just a little question about the mental aspect of the game any body else have a hard time thinking of them self has a good player some times a player will ask for a spot and I'll say no way I can't give you that then I'll reamber that I've given them that spot before and beaten them when ever I think my own game I still see my self has a 14 year old kid a D player Or something ill think I can't run this rack so I'll get to what ever ball and play safe then I realize wait a sec what I'm I doing I can get out here

"Hell NO, I cant give you that spot!" is and should be the conditioned response to anyone asking for a spot.

I forget my speed all the time, unfortunately it's generally the other way - I see the run out very clearly and immediately begin over-running positions until I remember that I can't execute very many run outs......yet.

I had a rather hard time reading the OPs thread with speed due to lack of punctuation. :grin-square:

My issue is consistency. On some days I can play lights out against a statistical B, others I'm struggling against an APA 2.

I like that you automatically say "no" to someone asking for a spot, even if you plan on playing that game anyway.

Hey guys just a little question. About the mental aspect of the game any body else have a hard time thinking of them? Self has a good player. Some times a player will ask for a spot and I'll say no way. I can't give you that. Then I'll reamber that I've given them that spot before and beaten them when ever I think. My own game I still see. Self has a 14 year old kid. ADD player or something. I'll think I can't run this. Rack so I'll get to what ever. Ball and play safe. Then I realize wait a sec, what? I'm I doing I can get out here.

Did that help? :D

Yep! Every time I go for that long draw shot and bounce the cue ball off the table.

Hope this is kind of thing your talking about

I sometimes have to take a second look at shots, first look I see nothing then I think Tim you can do anything. I look again and see this crazy thin cut with tight position involving hitting a block ball. I don't know how I do it but it is pure see it think it then do it. I tell myself to man up, got to have guts, let them know who you are and my favorite self talk is one shot on command under pressure ( thks Scott) and I nail pro shots run balls and it blows my mind. So my answer is this I first experience the shot as a b player but after a second look and a moment of visualization I see it as a A player. No doubt, true confidence and courage. Good thread
