Top Ten Pool Players

Jay, I know you have a lot of knowledge about the Philippine pool scene, so what would be your list of the 10 greatest Filipino players of all time?
I imagine Efren, Parica, and Busty would top the list, but I'm curious as to where the other players would rank after that.

Efren, Parica, Orcollo, Bustamante, Pagulayan, Corteza, Manalo, Luat, Andam and Lining. Honorable Mention - Boy Bicol, who some say played better than Efren.

The photo attributed to Ronnie is actually Richie Florence.

Here's my all time top ten, based on what I've seen and heard.
1.Ralph Greenleaf 2.Willie Mosconi 3.Efren Reyes 4.Harold Worst 5.Luther Lassiter 6.Jimmy Caras 7.Irving Crane 8.Jose Parica 9.Steve Mizerak 10.Mike Sigel
Honorable Mention - Babe Cranfield, Earl Strickland & Buddy Hall
Mizerak ahead of Earl and Buddy? I didn't know that Mizerak was regarded so highly. I never really watched Mizerak play much- most of the videos on youtube of him were when he was past his prime

Thread tittle should be called top 10 players of the 80-90's because the real top players are actually the pros of today,

Name the player who is in their prime today who is a better all-around player than Efren Reyes in his prime.

Sure Efren was a good all around player.

Now Efren is way past his prime and he has to play with weight against teenage Filipino players.

Sure Efren is still very good at one pocket.

Basically any Taiwan top pros are better at rotation than anyone on that top 10 list.

I put Mizerak and Sigel ahead of them based on overall ability. Both were far superior Straight Pool players and excelled at all games. Sigel had no weak game and Miz's only weakness may have been at Bank Pool, which he did not like. Buddy was a good all around player but shunned Straight Pool, as did Earl. It's a close call, as all four were great players, and that's why I added their names. I couldn't leave them out.

To say that Efren Reyes "was a good all-around player" is like saying Michael Jordan "was a good basketball player." It's a woeful understatement.

No one is arguing that Efren Reyes today, going on 61 years of age, is the best pool player in the world. This is a list of all-time great players, not the best players of today.

I'll leave it to others to decide if "any Taiwan top pros" today are better at rotation than Efren Reyes in his prime.

Let's be honest here. Ko Pin Yi playing Efren Reyes in his prime at 10 ball race to 100. I don't think that Efren would stand a chance just for Ko Pin Yi's break alone.

But hey man, you have the right to your own opinion. I just don't agree with it that's all.

How about Ko Pin Yi playing some One Pocket with Efren NOW?

Well that's a unfair argument but I doubt it to answer the question ,, what I find interesting and if I get the spelling wrong correct it , I think it's fung pang chow , who one 2 winner take all international challanges but never saw him again dam that guy could play it seems these guys stop playing ,, it's like thier race horses trot them out when the young and retire them to pasture I'm sure at least a couple of them would be great 1 hole players
Oh and Ko is 14th on Fargo's ya ok

I read an English translation of a newspaper article about the tragedy of Boy Bicol. Chilling.

Jay can you confirm?

You claimed that any of the top Taiwan pros today are better at rotation than Efren in his prime, not that Ko Pin Yi would be a favorite at 10 ball race to 100.

There's other Taiwan players that would be as well according to my opinion. But it's just my opinion.
