Fargoratings are not about determining odds, though they'll provide a a guideline most of the time. They rate past and recent performances.
They can't tell you if a guy is in form on the practice table, playing more than usual, having problems at home, got beaten on bad rolls in his last few matches and all the other variables that make some guys play better or worse than their previous performances in a current event.
I think they're fantastic, but one has to look at them in perspective... they are not a crystal ball, nor a perfect measure of past performance, but a great method to summarize available data.
