Low blow

Anyone who would make light of twenty years of service to give us the freedom to play pool should not be thrashed for what the taxpayers owe our vets.

I blew it early in this thread and owe some apologies. You know who you are. My apology to you.

This thread is crazy.........imo

I told you I would give you a shot at the 10 you lost but that if you wanted to try you would need to come to me since I went to you the last time. That's not clinging to anything.

And my wife and I both served our country honorably in the USAF for 20 years, both of us retired as Lieutenant Colonels, and we're proud of that service.

Lou Figueroa

And I told you that I am not interested in breaking even.

Thanks for doing your job. Now I and every taxpaying citizen will support you both for the rest of your lives. I.e. the government teat.

It's all good Lou. You have your view and I have mine. I made you an offer and you chose to go the other direction. I think that the reason is as I have stated.

Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of the john barton merry go round. It's one hell of a ride.

That it was a crap offer you knew he wouldn't accept?

This thread....bad blood....aiming systems

I will openly admit that when I played at a decent level in the 80's.....there just was no discussion about aiming systems.....so I have been watching videos of this cte stuff.
I am sure I will get blasted for saying it, but that stuff is ridiculous. Just listening to the tutorials is worse than watching paint dry.
I would rather never get better than to have to approach every shot thinking about about center center edge, swing pivot, shot line.......puke.....its like working a bad math equation.....double puke!

That service isn't like going to war. Lou was a public relations officer. In other words a spin doctor. All of us who served in the military know that there are cushy jobs and tough jobs. I spent time in the field in Germany training with Army units that did go to Iraq. I didn't go but my colleagues did. We were in the Air Force in a weather support role for a helicopter infantry division.

He did his job and retired and now the citizens of the United States support him.

You're right though, ultimately it has no bearing on the fact that he won't step up to play for 20k in OKC. It doesn't matter why a person is scared just that they are.

Me either, never heard of an aiming system until 2001ish. Played my heart out. I do agree that just stepping up and shooting is the best way to play and for me when I am on then using CTE is like that, just point and shoot. You're right, doing a bunch of calculations is jarring. But the fact remains that despite the lack of "romance" in systems they work great. No reason for any player to knock another player for using them. Both players love to play and that should be enough to give respect to each other.

Lou doesn't respect anyone who uses aiming systems and calls them deluded and religious fanatics and the teachers of them snake-oil salesmen and con artists etc....

Thanks

Thanks for your service then and a year and a half ago!

I also served as a missile launch officer. While you were working with weather balloons I held the keys and codes to 10 nuclear tipped Minuteman Missiles. And guess what? When squadrons of your unit's F-16s get deployed to forward operating locations, the PAO gets to go too ;-)

In that case my apologies. Thank you for for keeping the world safe.

I dont care if he was the army mailman

Serving our country so that we have t his forum freedom of speech should never be made light of or the benefits earned slandered in any way. Unacceptable period

And I bet Lou would also readily admit that there are others who had it tougher and/or were at more risk than he and I bet he has the utmost respect for them. I also highly doubt he started off as a public relations officer and perhaps had a less "cushy" job earlier in his career. But regardless, here is the thing though. Every service member serves a valuable an integral part in "the machine" that ensures that our country stays free. The cook for example never sees any action but those front line troops wouldn't be of any use if they didn't get to eat. Same with the mechanic who keeps the equipment working. And yes, the public relations officer serves a vital role as well. Everybody has their place, and everybody is important and necessary. Not to mention that while unlikely, most positions could actually be called into direct combat if the situation warranted it and they know that while unlikely their life could conceivably be on the line one day and yet they still voluntarily signed up anyway.

But no matter, everyone is the service has their place and purpose and are ALL valuable and vital and important and necessary. They are all integral to overall mission of keeping our country free among other things. I for one have the highest regard and appreciation for the service of anyone who has served honorably in any branch of the military in any position whatsoever. They all had important roles even if not risky or grimy. Thank you to all who have served. There are plenty of us who still realize how important your service is/was no matter your particular job and are appreciative of your service every single day.

This thread is beginning to feel like a constant barrage of JB spewing utter nonsense followed by kind people explaining reality and common sense in a similar matter as to a young child.

I think Lou could've been shot in a warzone and JB would come back and say, "So what, some people lose their limbs!!!"

He did kinda imply all vets are a drain on society...

This is not ugly enough. Make it uglier .
Wait, it's over .
Thank God.

I hope the mods read the last few pages .

Could care less about the bet...but

I am not a veteran, yet my father, who died when I was 16 was an active soldier in Korea winning the silver star which sets on my office desk.
It makes no difference what the job is.....active, chow hall, front line, mailman.....20 years of enlistment to give us the freedom to live in America is worth everything and should never ever be made light of.
Twenty years warrants whatever pension and benefits any soldier receives and should never ever be characterized as sucking a goverment tit.
That comment was off the map and should offend every American.
It is without excuse and should be retracted. PERIOD
