Boyes pulling a very questionable move on Daulton

Boyes may be my least liked pro player. Poor sport all the way around, and seems to do anything to get an edge, including bending the rules.

I know someone who had to physically stop dennis hatch from beating the crap out of him.
After the Euros won the Mosconi Boyes said "Im a champ but you're a chump!" to Hatch.

That's just not smart, i've seen dennis lose his cool before. Not really something i want a part of.

Boyes deserved to lose some of his teeth for that. Maybe ppl should let Hatch teach him a lesson.

A few things...

I'm more outraged by how slow boyes plays than anything he could do on the table. He's probably the most boring pool player there is to watch.

I believe what constitues a foul is determined during the player's meeting, so it's possible he was well within his rights.

The four ball...whatever happened there, there is a big difference between not bothering to get your cue out of the way after the 9 has gone in and touching a ball in play. It is BEYOND BELIEF americans don't play all ball fouls - it is embarrassingly amateurish. Boyes comes from english pool/snooker background, where there is an almost hysterical zeal about claiming your own fouls, no matter how insignificant they are.

But where was that hysterical zeal during the 2013 MC when Neils' let the cue hit his stick after potting the final shot?

US Open is all ball fouls.

There was a referee present. Not his call, especially when it wasn't his shot, and, i presume, he was safely backstage.

So, to be clear...the hysterical zeal in enforcing the rules only exists among ex-snooker players and not amongst the snooker refs themselves such as Michaela ?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Actually, he wasn't 'bending' the rules, rather, enforcing them a little too vigorously, perhaps.

My bending comment was in reference to other antics I've seen posted here and elsewhere.

This was just plain poor sportsmanship (of course within the letter of the rules).

Same way Shane called foul on Orcullo when Orcullo took a ball out of the pocket to measure a shot. I could've told Orcullo that he couldn't do that and move on.
Shane and Karl did not cheat, they enforced the rule. Not very fair play but hey, that's how they roll.
FYI, people even cheer for guys like Earl who disrespect and disturb his opponents and the audience, that's pool moral standard for you. What Shane and Karl do is nothing compare to Earl.
Fyi...Earl and Frost were very cordial yesterday during their match when different problems arose.
F crybaby Boyes!

Was Boyes enforcing an already established rule? Yes. Was it a weak move? Yes. Do I hope Sky stomps his @ss in the ground? Yes. Do I need to get back to work? Yes.

Do I agree with you? Yes. You definitely need to get back to work.

It's a dick move regardless of who does it or why. The game was over. And to use the recording was simply wrong.

Thanks. No case to answer, then. Not something i would have done but i'm not playing for my supper.

That's the thing with angle shooting, it's always something that's technically within the rules, but that's not the point, the point is that moves like that are always BS. Suzzann Pettersen was well within her rights to call a penalty on Alison Lee during the Solheim Cup because of a putt that wasn't conceded too, but that didn't stop even her own team mate from bursting into tears over it because she thought the other team would hate them. Same goes for when Floyd Mayweather knocked Victor Ortiz out when he was listening to the ref's instructions. Totally legal, but also totally classless. There's a right way and a wrong way to compete and angle shooting is the wrong way.
