Alex runs 234

wait a minute

There is A LOT of pool players that can make 200 balls, that list is crap, I know 2 guys in my country that nobody knows outside it that have made it training (they play some Eurotours and never went further than last 32)...
The 14.1 list is a list with (alive) players that have made a >200 runout (each one probably has made several...), the snooker one is a list of all 147's, not players, if fact only 44 distinct players have made a 147... now add to your list how many unknown chinese and taiwanese players have made >200 balls training and at least you will x2 that list.
Also, official 14.1 matches are usually played to less than 200 points, so there is no chance...

Hang on...are you telling me that there are two unknown players with 200 ball runs in your country? Definitely possible, lots of good players these days. But are you also saying they play the Eurotour and never have taken a top 32??? Are you suggesting that there are 40-100 European players that play levels above these 200 ball runners and deny them the opportunity to even tickle the cash? That's quite a stretch. I am a 126 ball runner with 3 total 100 ball runs. It isn't my best game, but I play it alright. Meanwhile I've cashed 4/4 US Opens in 33rd, 33rd, 25th, and 17th. I don't understand how a 200 ball runner couldn't win a few matches once in a while. It doesn't add up.

Look, I don't know enough about snooker to do comparisons about run difficulty. But this idea that snooker players are better at what they do than pool players are at what they do is odd. I think you might have more top players due to the prize pool, so maybe the #100 snooker player is better than what they do than the #100 pool player, that happens when money drives the world. But the elite are the elite.

I understand that some people need tin gods and since there is no way to ever put the issue to bed I can accept the fact there will never be agreement on this. But if nothing else I had to get more info on these 200 ball runners that can't cash in a weekly tournament!

Here is something to think about....John Schmidt has run 400+ balls, how many tries has he had? What if Alex, SVB, Ko,...we're to seriously play 1/2 as many times as John has what would be the result?

DO NOT MISUNDERSTAND ME JOHN IS A FINE PLAYER.
Alex is a great player. He is my #1 all around pick.

I actually am so hated that I have azb'ers protesting in front of my house right now.

You're right, I am the most hated person ever on AZB.

But at least I have the ability to stand up here under my own name, John Barton, and not snipe from anonymous troll accounts.

If I'm not mistaken this is the name (Barton) you gave yourself? How much do you have to hate your heritage to change your name? Based on your M.O. it wouldn't surprise me if no one in your clan would admit your association.

Nick B (yes that's my name...I'm sneaky that way)

Gave myself? You mean when I took my wife's name when she didn't want to change hers? Yes, I "gave" myself the surname Barton in that regard.

It was formerly Collins. Doesn't change the fact that for 20 years on these forums I stand up under my own name.

I don't have a "clan", I don't give a shit about any ancestoral crap. My family knows exactly who I am and they certainly have no problem with me.

Love how you troll me though Beratanos. First post in the thread and it's not about the topic at all. At the very least you could have congratulated Alex on his fine run.

But nope, you only want to knock me. Shame on you.

They would all have some really high runs but not necessarily be over 400. I have said this before, I'd like to see someone put up a $10,000 prize for breaking mosconi's record.

It would be cool and I predict it would fall inside 6 months.

Wrong again. Beretanos and its my families name and my wife took mine.

Oh and it's my second post. Wrong again like your stroke...kinda...sorta...about there.

Regards

Nick B

Sorry, your name means nothing to me. You're obviously more of a man and surely have a bigger penis. And my apologies I didn't remember your first post....I don't pay attention to people who are insignificant to me. I did go look and it had nothing to do with the topic either.

What are you on about? The eurotour is probably the most competitive in the world.

This has been discussed ad nauseum....generally the consensus at this point is that if a snooker player didn't start in diapers they really have little chance to get into the top ten.

I think that a top pool player WOULD have a chance but ONLY if the went full immersion for at least a few years.

Top snooker players have NO reason to focus on pool. The top pool players though make about as much as mid range snooker players. So if pool is sooooo easy then they can easily dominate all the pool tournaments and be the number one pool player instead of mid-level snooker players.

Anyway....... it's all just amateur opinion. Two different sports, similar but not the same. I am just winding up the snooker snobs on AZB.

Troll.

...

Anyways, am i the only one who doesn't rate alex?

And there's not a chance he's had a maxi - have any of you actually seen him play snooker?

I have seen him playing snooker on TV, not a pretty sight. He is very skillful pool player I like watching him play pool.

Yes, that was to show off Alex Pagulayan's new case which was clearly what influenced him to go forth and run so many balls. ;-)

Congratulations John! You have successfully lured all if not most English and Snooker supporters into this thread
Which of course include that someone who always pops up whenever theres a chance for him to claim snooker is far superior than pool and English players were far more better than Americans

Was writing my post when you posted that info.

Anyway, when/where was his 147? Practice? Match? Got any details? Even better yet, a video?

I'm pretty sure it was when he won his first Canadian snooker title....but it was after
tournament play one night. He was giving up weight in small action.
At that time, he was just in love with snooker....too bad he hadn't felt that way in his
early twenties rather than his early thirties...he may have had some success.

I wasn't a witness to it he 147, BTW....but there were plenty spectators.
He phoned me at work, giggling like a little kid, he really did like playing snooker.

Hardly anybody runs 200 balls anymore b/c straight pool isn't played much anymore .
Snooker on the other hand , is a million dollar sport .
If 200 is so tough, how did someone run 600?
Surely, nobody has done TWO 147's in one inning .
147 is an event . 200 in straight pool PRACTICE ? Not really imo.
I think Efren's 5 racks of 15-ball is tougher . I have not heard anyone else doing it .

Back to back 147 has been done, not in an a official match but in a exhibition one. Still a great feat.

I don't see why people think a 147 in practice is such a great thing. Big difference in running one in your own club or making a perfect break on TV.

Well said. Willie Thorne was widely known as Mr. 147 in the UK for making 147s for fun in practice or exhibition matches. Competitive 147s? Just one.

Huge difference making a 147 in practise where you can set up a break ball to break the pack favourably. In straight pool, every time you get an opening, you can make any ball you want and have the chance. Both tremendous achievements in my eyes, and something I will never manage to do. What about a 9 dart finish in 501, how does that rack up :P
