Butt Capps issue

Ladies and gentlemen,

I am doing a build for a customer and have been requested to use a 1.5 milk white delrin butt cap. Here is the issue I am running into. I have a full blown mid-size cue smith but the jaws at the headstock only open to about 1.4. Is there any way to get more opening (maybe the jaws are adjustable?) So that I can check up my delrin rod and start to work drilling and boring and facing.

Thanks

Eric

Are you sure he isn't asking for a 1.5" long buttcap? That's a big diameter for most people.

I love fat butt cues, but most like them smaller by a fair amount.

Put your piece of Delrin between two centers (dead center/spur driver and live center) and turn it round down to 1.375" and then do your facing and boring on it. You will have to center drill the Delrin with a hand drill after marking the center.

I assume you are using 1.5 in diameter Acetal stock.

Drill a 5/16 in hole thru the blank - thread it to 3/8 - 16 - acquire a $0.25 bolt and 2
nuts from your local Ace Hardware store. thread the bolt thru the blank and lock it
at both ends with the nuts

Chuck up your shinny new 40 cent butt cap arbor and have at it.
