Dennis vs Ko, race to 100, 20K.

Interesting.
Especially since gambling in a pool room is illegal in most states.
Being a "security guy" or "carrier" at an activity which is illegal in the first place is questionable. (LEO's nowadays can become quite volatile)
Remember Johnston City and the "bad asses" there and how they groveled for mercy when the bust came down.
I'm not trying to stir up debates with any of you experts. Just a few guys like myself were cutting up jackpots about it at the poolroom today and I thought I'd bring it up.
Life goes on...

I think somebody else beat me to it, but it's basically advertised as a 2 man tourney. Entry fee paid and winner gets all. That makes it all legal....

Why does it have to be labeled as an excuse when it really is an explanation or description of fact?

When Shane would fly into Dubai a day before WPA tourney and not do so well, but last year gets in a week early and acclimated himself, comes in second, is there an explanation?

Jet Lag is a fact of life. I've spent a lot of time around the world, most recently in Ukraine, and it always took days to get normal and they were only 7 hours ahead. Taiwan is 13 hours. So it's worse.

If you ever experienced Jet lag, and had to function at a high level of concentration during it, you would know that plays a huge factor.

Now that Ko is already here a total of 7 days,I expect a much different player than was at Turning Stone.

As for the interview, the translator described them both as jet lagged and said she wished they would fly in early, but the air fare was higher before New Year's, so they decided to stay with family and save some dollars and get tickets to fly in a day before Turning Stone. Kevin Cheng was already here so he was playing at a higher level. It was a topic of conversation for sure because Jet Lag is a fact of life.

Jet lag is truly brutal. Going halfway around the world, 13 time zones, knocks me off balance for at least three days. Especially when it's accompanied by 24 hours of travel.

Hopefully it's a good stream. Haven't streamers had issues at steinway before?

Yes, but at least the last couple I've seen including last year's 14.1 PPV have been good. I just bought tonight's 1 day pass and the stream has been good the past 5 minutes. Maybe they finally learned to lock out their WiFi router from all the people in the room.

Big Ko just shooting around. I wish they would start on time. I got work in a few hrs.

Supposedly Ko just showed up at like 5:55 when I was watching the stream so he obviously is going to get warm up time.

Maybe he is still jet lagged :p

Table looks like a hard times table. Super tight. Ko looks comfortable shooting. This is going to be a real good match.

An explanation, when used to defend, is an excuse.

Did Ko tell you he suffered jet lag or did you just hear that he flew in late and come up with the excuse for him? He doesnt strike me as an excuse maker or giver if you want to call it that.

I have been around the world also and not once have I ever suffered from jet lag. But that doesnt matter. When you lose and come up with excuses it looks bad imo, even if they are real. It happens a lot I know in a variety of sports but wether its plausible or not it still looks bad.

And as for the reason for why Shane was able to get second this time... I think its because he was able to eat better food.:) Sounds plausible. I heard he had jet lag for his last US Open though, or car sickness, or some plausible excuse. There is no way that he simply lost that is for sure.

All because you did not get jet lag does not mean it did not effect him. Newsflash, it does most people & it does not make him look bad.

Seriously I read some of the most ridiculous things on this site.

 How can you not get jet lag? Your body is on a daily sleep-wake cycle, and then you go somewhere with a different day-night time (Taiwan is just about the exact opposite of the US), you are going to have to adjust.

Just sayin... jet lag is not a fact. Im curious if Ko even stated that he had jet lag or if Cardigan Kid made the excuse for him.

No doubt. Going to China wasn't that bad for me - I just stayed awake on the plane. Coming back to the US after a month took me over a week before I felt right.

You flew around the world and never experienced jet lag? You must have only flown to Cleveland.

Close.

I flew in from Thailand though. Or from Thailand to Japan and the Japan to the U.S. to be more precise.

Did Ko tell you he felt jet lagged? That is what I really want to know.

Ko doesn't speak English - he didn't say anything as he was playing Mike Dechaine. I was speaking to Mandy, their translator and she brought it up. It was a topic of discussion and planning for the trip as well, so they were aware of it.

I don't know if I ever used it as an "excuse" you are tagging all that to the interview.

The thread was "facts about the Kos" and jet lag is a fact of life - except for those who who fly from USA to Thailand and slept normal. That is super human! Not even Ko or Shane can escape that.
