Did he ever stamp his cues like this? Looking at buying a used jump break from someone. This picture is of the butt cap of the jump break in question.
Thanks, John

in the old days he used an " F "
Yep exactly. I've owned a lot of cues over the years but only one Frey cue. It was an old beat up sneaky pete with the "F" between the points. The guy that owns this cue says it's an "old" Bob Frey jump break.
I personally have never seen a Frey with the " F " between the point
Here's the old sneaky I used to own. I know who has it now and I keep bugging the guy and his wife to sell it back but they aren't having it. So if you guys are reading this, can I please buy it back? Lol![]()

But about the cue in question, I just did a quick google search and found a 4 point cue with this same exact signature between the points so it might be legit. I'm really counting on the wealth of knowledge on this great site here to let me know if its the real deal or not before I make a deal with the guy and pick it up.
Yeah sorry I could not be of more help, but you're right someone on here will probably be able to give you a definitive answer. I just haven't ever seen one like that though. I am very good friends with the guy that was Bob Frey's official distributer for many many years ( Fat Wayne ) so over the years I've seen literally hundreds and hundreds of Frey's and just don't recall seeing that on any cue. As I said I definitely am not any kinda expert, I am just speaking from what I've seen ( or not seen ). Good luck , I'm sure someone will be able to tell you. A couple others on here that are very knowledgeable about Frey's and they are Nick Serdula, Colonel, and Shooter 08.
I know exactly how you feel man. Believe me. If we decide to sell it down the road, you will be the very first to know. I promise.
And you're right...this Frey is a hell of a player, lol.

Oh sure just go ahead and rub it in dammit lol just kidding bud. Sending you a pm now.
A few years ago I owned one of the first cues Bob made when he started his own shop . To this day I still kick myself in the ass for selling this cue. I literally made like 2000% profit on the cue and that is why I sold it but I never should have sold it. I actually am friends with the guy that sold it to me. He was friends with Bob Frey and had this cue for like 20 + years and if I remember correctly it was the 6th cue Bob made when he went out on his own. I bugged the crap out of the owner for like 15 years to sell it to me. As I said we were friends and he was the overnight Houseman at my pool hall. I borrowed that cue for YEARS to use when I was in action. I won / lost tens and tens of thousands with that cue. After 15 years of bugging him I guess he sold it to me just to stop me from bugging him lol . I know I must have given him a few thousand in gappers over the years for allowing me to use this cue . To this day I still search for it. I actually went to try and find the guy I sold it to a couple days after selling it to try to buy it back but I've never been able to find the dude. I personally have never seen a Frey with the " F " between the point like the old Scruggs with the "TS ", my cue had the old "F " on the white buttcap.

The original Frey "F".

Signed Frey Cue #1, his 1st custom after leaving Scruggs and my daily player.

The newer Frey "F" designed by his grandson.

Another signed Frey that is the same as on the butt cap of the cue in question on this thread.
Bob went through a few variations early on. The cue Runout wants to get back from Peppersauce is a very early Frey with original "F" between the points which there aren't many of.
There aren't many signed up in the points either unless requested.
Bob used the old "F" logo for years. His grandson designed the newer "F" which he used until very recently & may now move back to the original "F" since his grandson passed.
I have never seen the sig on the butt cap as the cue that is the subject of this thread has but as you can see from the last pic of the second cue signed in points is the same as the one on the butt cap in this thread.
Bottom line it's a Frey, an older one. Bob hasn't made a great amount of jump/breaks, mostly custom orders. Buy it, if you don't like it then PM me & I'll take it off of your hands. Would love to see more photos of the cue. Good luck.
Also to Peppersauce, if you ever want to sell the one you have let me know, I'll be all over that. I'll pay more.
Edit: if anyone here has an early Frey custom with original "F" they want to part with PM me, customs only, not sneakies. I'm still trying to find the one that was robbed from me at gunpoint outside Boulevard Social & Billiards in Philly about 15 years ago.Bob is an amazing guy & one of the most underrated cue makers of all time IMO. These cues are amazing players.
