Of current production break cues, what is the best on the market. What do you have and why do you like it?
 
J&J. Mine's got the wood-screw joint and a real stiff shaft. Works great and on sale i paid around 70bux delivered. Works as well as the $450 Gilbert i used to own. Do recommend that you grind down the ferrule and install hard leather break tip. IMO, phenolic sux.

I like my Mike Gulyassy Sledgehammer. If total sales is an indication being the best, this is now in its fourth iteration (McDermott Sledgehammer). Many people also like J&J.
 
I guess it doesn't qualify as "current" since they were recently discontinued, but I really like my Poison VX/BRK jump/break with Samsara tip in 18oz. If you find a good deal on a used one, I wouldn't hesitate to jump on it.
 
Buying gently used, previously owned, or new old stock can be a way to save money.

Previously used the Pure X, HXTP1 Break Jump Cue, but now using the Mezz Dual Force (with the mesh) Break Jump Cue, both do the job. But just like the feel of the Mezz. Combined with a OB-134, I'm happy with my current playing set and I don't see me changing this setup for a while.

Absolutely cannot be beat. Find the right one, it's a cue that's really lived.
It's seen 8 and 9 ball breaks, impossible run outs, and silky smooth.

I had been looking at mikes old sledgehammer. Also was considering a BK3, anyone have an opinions?
 
There are still plenty of players out there satisfied with their BK1 & BK2. You may be able to pick up one at a bargain from someone upgrading to the latest and greatest (BK3).

I would love to say those break cues from MEZZ Cues are the best in the market

Mezz Break Cues are very durable, I have a Mezz Power Break Pro Wrapless with Deep Impact Pro (R) and I have been using it for 4 years plus.

I previously owned a Predator BK2, after using it for 2 years plus, the uni-loc joints was starting to give me some problems, after 4 breaks it loosen up and i had to tighten it up again.

Mezz Break Cue is very very durable cue and it breaks good also easy to control the whitey. To me, it is a good buy and good break cue. :smile:

I always thought break cues were a sales pitch, but the Jacoby Edge is legit. I've tried BK, not my thing. I think it has to do with tip and taper on the butt of the Edge. Feels different but breaks like a monster. I would also like to try a Pechaeur but haven't got around to it.
 
Break Cue

I have had numerous break cues and thanks to a friend who loves to buy and sell cues, I have got to use several more over the last few years. Some of those include Pechauer, Gilbert, Mezz, Omen, Samsara and a few others. After careful consideration, I offer you 2 choices:

1. Gilbert J/B cues. If I could carry only 1 cue, this would be it. They play as good as they break. Put a playing tip on it and go make balls and be happy. Or just smash racks with it. Your choice.
2. J&J J/B cue. I had one, sold it and the guy won't sell it back to me. He has been offered twice what he paid me for it and still won't sell it. The cue flat out breaks good. Lesson learned.

As a Jacoby and Pechauer dealer I should test both. The Jacoby Edge is great, the Heavy Hitter is not my style, but many customers love them. I'm gonna get a Pechauer break cue and jump to compare to Jacoby. I wish Pechauer still made the butterfly model, but totally understand it was not cost effective. We all have to support ourselves.

I'm still pretty curious about Predator BK3 as I have not yet tried one in person.

Anyone who have tried ? Please give us some ideas on how it breaks.
