I generally take several cues to play. Tonight I took my Joss, among others, but the others stayed on the sidelines tonight.
I ended up playing the entire evening with it. It totally blew me away. It seems so perfect. Running balls seemed so effortless. It took me one rack to get familiar again though, I have been shooting with a Huebler lately, a great cue for sure.
Do you play with an old cue? Do you understand what I am talking about?
After more than 30 years the cue just feels right and plays right.
I would love to have somebody clean the shafts or re-tip them, but honestly I have to do it myself. I am actually a little paranoid to let anybody else tend to them. They are, essentially, perfect. I am talking about a perfection that comes only with age and use. The same goes for the Cortland wrap, nothing can touch it.
I will admit that I almost, but did not, break with the old war horse. I used to do it all the time, many years ago. I just can't bring myself to do it anymore. The cue seems to deserve better treatment.
Of course, I can't play at the level I used to, simple lack of practice. But certainly there is a spark of what I used to do when I play with this cue. Another level. Another zone. Nirvana.
I know technology will take over, but I also feel that something will be lost. Will future players ever appreciate anything like what I experience with this cue?
