How long after replacing a tip on the cue should I wait before using it, my cue maker told me to wait at least 24 hrs give it time to settle is this right thanks.
 
I glue a tip on a cue............ I wait 10 seconds........ cut it and shape it and hit balls with it....................... never waited..........
never had a problem

Is he using contact cement or super glue?
 
Thanks for the replies you know I never asked what kind of glue he's using I had it done about 6hrs ago and I'm going to shoot with it tonight he did a great job it's a brown Moori medium .
 
Tips

I've put tips on and played with it minutes after with no issues..we've all had tips pop off...it don't happen often but it can.
A majority of CA glue fully cures in 24 hours so most tip installers like to go by what the manufacture suggest..

I don't like to rush thru a tip install, if at all possible I'll leave the tailstock with a blank arbor pressed up against the tip for a few extra minutes.




Avoid gluing tip to ferrule/tenon with a glossy face. A lot of ppl like to free hand a razor blade to face the ferrule when shaft is spinning in lathe, this creates a glossy surface where the tip makes adhesion to the ferrule/tenon<~ poor adhesion = vibration&rattling.
