If you wanted to become a dealer for a pool product, what would it be?

If you wanted to become a dealer (buying to resale for a profit), then what would that product be, and how much money do you think you would need to invest to start?

Are there any good products that you think would be really good sellers (maybe in the pool league community, for example)?

Do you think that any small time dealers are making any money selling anything in the billiard industry, or are only the big name companies (like Seybert's for example) doing well?

Or, I wonder if the entire billiard industry might be hurting for sales.

I assume not though, because the league players are probably still spending a lot of money every year on brand new billiard items, and they usually choose what ever their favorite pro player chooses to use (if they are a fan of the pro pool scene).

Anyways, I just wonder what a good billiard product would be to invest in (to resell).

Chalk? Tips? Tip tools? Maybe unknown Chinese imports (that look to be of decent quality, if there are any)?

Maybe Philippine cue imports? I know some of them actually play very nice, and they are pretty cheap (maybe get a good price on an order of 10 or 20 at a time, but I do not know).

What do you think?

Thanks.

Hookers for the tournament scene. I would invest $20.

Sell pieces of chalk for 50 dollars, shipping included. It sounds ridiculous but 35 dollar cubes are a thing.

Call it XXX Extreme Friction Plus or some other silly marketing name. Suckers are born every minute. Sell it for 500 dollars for a box of 12.

Justin, let me say this, and I mean it in the most constructive way, that I don't have the
confidence that you fit the profile of a successful cue salesman.
Although sales is the only business where you can make more money than you are
worth, I think you are reaching a little too high.
Maybe the NBA or something, but I don't know about pool cues

Oh, yeah, you are right. I am an extremely shy person, and would not deal well in person. But maybe a good product would sell itself online. I used to deal in DVDs, and did very well for a long time. A good selling product never lasts forever though.

You must learn to seize the opportunity

Your imported cue idea was brilliant.
On an earlier thread you were looking for cheap, warped cues, now it's imports, which will give you the best of both worlds.

That my friend is how you seize the opportunity in sales

Slightly warped Cues with thin butts, but without butt caps

I would sell sell condoms with company logos printed on them.
I'd buy myself a big white Cadillac and go from town to town selling them to bars, poolrooms, and billiard accessories retailers, and I would change my name to Seymour Butts.
One of my sales promotions would be the local company's name on the side of the condom with a fly silk-screened on the end. On special occasions the fly would turn into a tarantula. :D

Lol, I do not think I was looking to buy a warped cue. I just created that thread because I was offered one, and I did not know if there is any (or much value) in warped cues (even if they came from a very well known and highly respected cue maker). I did have a pretty badly warped Joss around 5 years ago, and was eventually able to sell it on ebay. Got $200 out of a badly warped Joss, and the winning bidder understood what he was buying, and was happy with the cue.

Schon cuesor Evan's new business
quality cues ,quality people

South west has no dealers or I would pick them for being the best
at everything

Way too expensive. I need something that the league players can afford, and that would be very popular. Dale Perry cues maybe? Kidding, I do not think I could get much of a dealer discount on them (even if he had dealers).

Lol, only $20? Oh, you mean maybe good looking females to rack the balls for the players? They did that in the past I think, right?

No, I meant HOOKERS! LOL. Yes they will absolutely do something with the balls - and if " racking is your thing so be it - sounds painful to me though lol ☺. I think what Cblues was getting at was...... well he was just trying to save you some heartache and extreme displeasure let's say.

Tramp - good idear ! I will come out with a competing brand : " For a good time - Ben Dover condoms are the first and only choice " ! Company slogan : " Bend over and touch your toes, Ben'S gonna show you exactly where the shafts goes ".

The great artist Michelangelo said, in essence, that the trick to sculpting a masterpiece out of a block of solid stone is to simply remove the material that does not belong there.

You could market these as "Michelangelo" cues: :)

Sadly, seems like a good business these days is liquidating pool room inventory.

I would want to become an authorized dealer for Diamond billiards. I do not think it would take any investment in inventory. I believe there are enough bars and league members to be able to widely distribute their tables, lights, ball polishers etc.. The only problem I am seeing is their delivery time and initial cost and with the smart tables coming in all sizes I think it could work if you offered them free leveling services.
