Russian Magic chalk

When I have kept chalk in my front pocket it certainly does get chalk all over anything inside your pocket and coats anything else you have in there. I guess if you played pool for 30 minutes it wouldn't be so bad.

My buddy places the cube of chalk in his back pocket where he keeps his wallet. It sits on top of the wallet with half of the chalk sticking out of the top of the pocket.

I have seen numerous players stick a cube of chalk in their front pocket, but I have never done it.

Does that not get all over the inside of your pocket and become difficult to wash out?

The down side to a pocket chalker or putting it in your pocket is you lose the ability to mark the rail.
Once in awhile on a tricky position shot i will set the chalk on the rail either where I want the cue ball to first hit or finish.

You could substitute a water bottle for the chalk. Just sayin'.

Not many on here will get that inside joke.
Good one.

Are you kidding me?
There are 56,000 members on AZ....there are usually three times as many lurkers...
...so out of about 200,000 possible viewers....I calculate at least 65% of them know about
Hank's and his decision to charge for water.

That comes out to about the population of New Haven, CT....
...Hank should give you free pool and water for life

So I googled "No free water at Hank's"
....first hit was a thread on NPR about your thread on the Main Forum.
...you get around, buddy....:)

I made it

Where did you find this Mike, or is this something you built ??

Its a old cell phone holder I had and seen the belt clip chalk holders , so I made this hoping someone might like it ?

I was really screwing around making different stuff with what I have laying around in my shop.

Chrome

Hmmmm. I've seen this somewhere before. Quite stylish

I tried using copper brake rivets the first time, it looked like $hit.

Put a mark on it for next time. When you see it just walk up and take it. Mine stays in my pocket and never sees the rail.

I wonder why the custom for most pool players is to put the chalk on the rail, while (top level) carom and snooker players seem to have a personal piece of chalk they keep in their pocket. Anyone have any idea why the different customs came about?

Pool Player

It kills me to say that carom and snooker players might be smarter when it comes to how they treat chalk versus pool players. :D

Never thought of that.
I wonder if i can write "not yours" on the bottom?

Who was it Bruce?
I know who most of the serial chalk thieves are in Denver.

Do you have any suspects?
We need a task force to put an end to these chalk thieves.
Just be thankful that is wasn't your electronics store Lucasi getting stolen.

I know from experience that the typical British snooker club doesn't supply free chalk...
....they will sell you some, however.
Carombole, with it's European roots, probably handles chalk the same way.
...so when you own the chalk, you tend to be less careless with it.

In North America, because of our tradition of supplying chalk gratis, if a pool hall tried charging for chalk, they'd go broke.
....I am SO used to playing sessions with at least three pieces of chalk on the rails...
....and often, all three end up within a diamond of each other...:scratchhead:

The Lucasi being a collectors cue now stays mostly in the closet with my Lab/Pit Bull dog watching it.The mighty Zeus now watches over the mighty Cocobolo Lucasi.
I play with my Troy Downey cue now.The Downey is much less tempting to thieves as it is not as famous as the Lucasi.

I have no lead on the perp who stole my chalk.
I am in the process of marking all my remaining premium chalk with a marker that is only visible under a black light.

I am thinking of putting a dye pack in the pouch on my case.

I would heartily recommend that Bruce not pursue this legally.
In the North American tradition of 'free chalk'....the perp's gonna walk...
...as long as he was using the chalk for its original purpose.
