For custom cue owners.

If you were to own a production cue, which brand would you own? And why..

Either Schon or Tiger.

Since I've had so many Schon's I'd probably go for Tiger.
Their shafts are better - in my opinion - than the Schon shafts.

Plus if you like LD's you can get Tiger with LD's and you don't
have to spend another 250 to 300 to get an LD.

Matter of fact the more I think about it: Tiger

Mezz.. I have a Mezz Rosewood Power Break II Cue. I really like its look, quality, and the hit is great. If they made it in a wrapless playing cue, I'd be tempted..

Having owned both, I would say Mezz, hands down. Best feeling production, I have EVER owned. Absolutely superb quality.

I like Schons a lot for production cues

Mezz makes fine cues aswell but I personally like yhe way schons play a bit more. Mezz has better build and finish quality though

Schon - Good but ultimately non-artistic designs (art is in the eye of the beholder... Im an artist, I dont like Schons designs... or hardly any of them) They hit well and have excellent construction and quality standards. A good purchase.

Mezz - They hit a ton (had to be done)

Pechauer - Likely the best designs of any production cue I've seen, and well made too. Solid hit. They get the job done with style.

Tiger - Super solid cue. Workmanship that easily rivals Mezz and Schon. Crisp and enjoyable.

McDermott - Where the search for my production cue ended. Superior in every way.

Hope your journey is a short one to the cue that makes nice with you.

Mezz are a cut above the rest IMO

Finish, consistency of playability, shaft options etc etc...

Schon for sure. Since I play with a Runde it would be the most similar to what I have now and I've had Schons before and they play great!

Lots of good production cues out there though. Was in a shop recently and picked up a couple off the wall just to see what they were like. McDermott had a nice hit and a Lucasi really surprised me with its great hit and feel. They were both under $300.

Other than my own, I've always played with a Schon.
However, on the advice from the good folks here at AZB I will be purchasing a new Mezz in a couple of months, and am looking forward to throttling the other One Pocketeers who hang around my local pool room. I beg your pardon. Sports bar and grill.

Mezz assuming I had $4-500 (or more) to spend, if I had to stay well below that then probably a Players Pure-X.

Regards, Dave

For production cues, I have a couple Schon cues still left in the case...along with a McDermott. However, they're in the case because my Mezz with a WX900 shaft is my daily shooter.

A quick side note, Jams. Have you played with the Hybrid Pro II? I'm considering that one, but my aim is to get the shaft with the least deflection. Any thoughts? :)

Hey Tramp,

Honestly, I don't think I'm good enough to tell the subtle differences (subtle in my opinion) as to the actual "LD" qualities of each of Mezz's shafts. That being said, yes, I have tried the HPII...and the WD700...and the WX700...and the HPI...and the Mezz regular shaft! LOL

I finally settled on the WX900 due to the 12mm diameter. I'm a glutton for punishment...so I know if I'm a half a millimeter off on my stroke, I'm in for a loooong night of misses.

I think with any of Mezz's shafts you'll get great LD properties. You'll have to adjust to a new shaft no matter which you choose as none of them will be ZERO deflection. So, for me, it was deciding on what mm I wanted the shaft...then playing with it long enough to figure out how much (or little) compensation for deflection was necessary.
