Will the Roku #3 streamer work for me? I just want it for AZB, Netflix, HBO and other movie channels. I have a very old RCA box for Netflix and Utube now for the TV in my office/den. I believe the rest of the TV's in the house are Smart TV's. Thank you in advance. Johnnyt

Johnny, yes it will. Roku 3 is the best one yet. I am currently running two of them. It is lightening quick. It is a stand alone product that you can connect via wifi or by ethernet cable to your router (not all Roku players have a hard wire option). I have Netflix, Hulu and Amazon set up on mine. I believe you can access HBO with your subscription. There are a ton of free and pay channels and there is a free You Tube browser and free Billiards channel. I have mine hard wired with an Ethernet cable (our house is wired).

I particularly like the "search" feature. You can search all channels by title or actor name, free or pay per view. Also, there is a Bluetooth connection to the remote control, so with simple ear buDs you can listen to the television quietly in bed without disturbing anybody. Also, the handset has voice recognition software, speeding up the search process.

I've had both other versions - this one is the best.

Are you hooking it to the presumably older TV in the office, or the Smart TVs? I believe the only output on the Roku3 is an HDMI...

Actually, the Roku 4 is out and it supports higher resolutions then any of the previous Roku devices. It also supports faster data transfer rates on wifi than it's predecessors (802.11ac MIMO dual-band wireless). There is a headphone jack in the Roku 4 remote like in the Roku 3 as well. The Roku 4 also has a remote finding feature built into it.

I saw someone on here mentioned apple TV support and when I read that I wondered if there is a Roku App available for the apple tv or not. I do know there is a Roku app for EMBY which is available for free download and is really quite amazing as far as multi media streaming servers go. In my opinion it is very similar to the Apple TV interface but much more detailed.

I too have been streaming all my media over my home network for years now. While I have not cut the cable cord yet due to them being my best internet provider option. I only have one coax entering my apartment basement and being split into two (one for a router the other for an HD HomeRun Prime) that is the end of the coax. I do not have coax going to my televisions I can stream to any of my televisions (equipped with Roku, PS3, or Xbox in the place through hardwire network cable or wifi). I can actually store my movies on network hard dricves and stream them as well.
