Olhausen and Diamond

As someone who owns a Ferrari: let us talk about maintenance.
Toyota: goes 100,000 miles with nothing more than gas, oil, tires.
Ferrari: can't drive by the mechanic without eating another $1,000.

Perhaps you want to try a different analogy.....

What kind of Ferrari do you have if you dont mind me asking?

How about a Ford Tempo/Dodge Omni/Chevrolet Chevette taking the place of the Olhausen compared to a Lexus for the Diamond analogy???

I actually think the rails on my old Olhausen were better than the Diamonds. I have a Gold Crown III that I have had redone with Simonis.

Diamonds always seem to bank short, and the other night a top player in my area said that he had noticed that some bank short, and the newer ones bank SHORTER.....

Overall, i think Diamonds are more solid, yet overpriced.

Ken
They wouldn't if they had Brunswick cushions.
Don't kill the messenger.
That was told to me by a top-shelf mechanic/table rebuilder.
Probably the premier one.

That would be closer comparison  But not sure you have to call Olhausen a Chevette, that's just mean. They are good tables, just NOT great tables. And certainly you will never play on many Olhausens in leagues or tourneys, usually ;)

I have owned my F355 Berlinetta for 15 years.
I have put 40,000 total miles on it, and 5,000 track miles on it.

Just curious, what your total maintenance and repair costs have been in 15 years, ball park figure  Had an SL600 with a v-12 for 4 years, and the upkeep was ridiculous. I can only imagine what yours was ;)

I grew up playing on an Olhausen. Had an 8 ft Olhausen that move around with me a couple times and I was always impressed with how well built and sturdy it was. No complaints what so ever on how it played. The Olhausen rattle is real. Not a huge deal, in my experience if it rattled it wasn't hit right.

I own a Diamond now and absolutely love it. I've played on various Diamond, Brunswick, Olhausen and have loved them all. They all play a little different. One isn't bad or good in my opinion just different (they all play good).

My Diamond does bank shorter than any other table I have played on.

What year is it?

Reason why i compare toyota to a diamond is becoz of the price tag.
I can play on both table prob enjoy playing more in a diamond .
Both does the job but a diamond is prob triple the price.

Peace , not interested in getting into a word battle.
Just my 2 cents

As a former Olhausen owner, one of the top models and a current Diamond Pro owner, there is no comparison.

The Olhausen rattle is truth and it sucks. Rails were not bad but I hated the pocket cut. My Diamond has pro cut pockets and plays 100 times better IMHO.

Would never go back to the Olhausen. Have a great table mechanic put the Diamond up is a big part of it. Jack Zimmerman is the bomb!

Thanks

I already have a 9' Rebco with Simonis 860 HR and it is plenty of table for this old guy. I wish it was a Diamond as that is what is in the Palace in Anchorage and I really like them.

A couple of times a year I travel up there for tournament play. I know I would be more competitive if I was playing on those tables a few times a week, but 150 miles is to far to travel for that.

A place in Anchorage sells Olhausen, but no one sells Diamonds. Shipping one to Anchorage and finding some one competent to set it up correctly would also be difficult and pricey.

I really appreciate the info guys, Since I am 66 I probably will stick with what I have and hope a used one shows up in Alaska.

I can use it as a lame excuse for not winning!
