Oscar Left Out of Mosconi Cup... Again

This guy finishes top 6 nearly every year. He is 5th in points and doesn't get chosen once again. Bergman gets picked and I understand Mark Wilson and his relationship with Justin but still. I don't want to take anything away from Justin as he is a ferocious player. I think Oscar is a great person and player, a shining example. He did well on Mosconi Cup when he played and if I recall the USA actually won that year. Maybe next year.

Of course he is a great player, but most people consider Bergman to be the better player, so it is understandable that Wilson would select Bergman

They should just make it captains choice then and forget the points race. Maybe he could assemble a team that is actually a team.

How many times has Mark Wilson been captain and what is Team USA record with him being captain?

I'm dissapointed with this years US Mosconi team.
Shane and Mike are understandable. But to my recollection, Justin played terrible last year and Rodney's playing has never blown me away.
Oscar has a smooth playing style and seems more like a pure player to me.
It's gonna be exiting to see the matches.

I think Billy Incardona should be the captain.

100%. I think Billy can crack the code and assemble a team that wins. I'm tired of hearing about chemistry, it's not a basketball team. It's all one on one or scotch doubles. I'd take a player who can take the heat over chemistry.

I feel for Oscar. He's one of the few Americans that travels the world and will match up with anyone. He doesn't shake.

As I pointed out in another thread. Oscar was 0-2 in singles and 2-1 doubles. If you consider that playing well, then...

Nothing against Oscar but if you don't get enough points to end up 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, then traveling the world and playing in many points events does nothing towards your chances to end up on the team except for getting sympathy from others. I disagree with anyone who has the line of thinking of "he deserves it because he put in the effort and he was so close" to me that is sympathy for his efforts and I doubt Oscar wants anyone's sympathy like that. I think if you are going to chase the points you either win or you don't. If you don't then you are on an even playing feild with anyone else who didn't win, even those that couldn't or didn't make the attempt. I do understand anyone who thinks he should be on the team anyway though due to his abilities. I think that's a fair opinion.

but JA should be in the team? what has he done to deserve the spot?

Convinced me that he has the mental game, physical game, and skills to win. When I add in his leadership ability and the energy he brings to his teammates he would be my number 1 choice.

can u see what i did there?

We all have opinions. I'm not saying someone cant have an opinion that Oscar should be on the team. If someone says he deserves to be on the team because of his talent then I won't say a word.

For this thread I disagree with the idea that Justin was picked because of his relationship with Mark and it sounds like a plea for sympathy due to the efforts he has given attempting to earn enough points. I believe if you don't win it should be irrelevant in determining 4th and 5th team members.

Oscar is a great player, but I don't think he was what team USA needed this year. I'm not sure Justin is the answer either, but given the amount of singles to play in the Cup and that they already have four pretty good doubles players, I'd say Wilson made the best choice available to him and got a player who's game he knew inside and out.

lol its not about oscar (i would have picked him, but im biased, i just like him), u tell us why u understand why he didnt get picked but u ignore ureself when it comes down to JA!
and what a message would it be to the youngsters giving JA a spot? that way u´ll never win mosconi again, u need hungry fresh blood, not half retired veterans!

Think that last statement through a little more. I said I don't think he should be picked because he got close to winning enough points. I said I think Johnny should be picked because he gives us the best chance to win. I have no problem with anyone who thinks Oscar should be on the team because he gives us the best chance to win.

I also think you have Johnny's speed clocked wrong.

where to observe? hes only somewhere in the fargo ratings (u know what i think about fargo), i see his name nowhere else.......and according to fargo, why not consider shawn putnam? hes also ahead of oscar:D
serioulsly, u guys need fresh blood there or do u wanna play forever with JA, strickland and morris? even when they still have respectabale speed, they wont win a cup anymore against the high end beasts!

My opinion would be the same with or without Fargo ratings. I wouldn't say U.S.A. can't win either.
