Is Max Eberle as big as a goof as I now think?

Max is cool guy

Max is a super good player and a really nice guy. His views on the planets are somewhat strange but that's what makes the world go round - or flat, lol !!!!

Who's gives a shit? He can believe whatever he wants without judgement from me. Just like everyone else in the world.
If he can teach me something about pool I don't already know he can believe the cosmos resides in Kim Kardashians ass for all I care.
He's a cool guy and a great teacher.

Yes but he WOULD NEVER SAY THAT!!!! It's is the fartherest thing from flat although I'm sure she can fit quite a bit up in there!

Kim Kardashian's ass... Call me crazy but I believe she had a flat ass.

If the world is flat do we live on the top or the bottom? If its the bottom why don't we fall off?

Let face it, that landing on the moon stuff is BS and I can prove it with facts:

Fact- Americans are slobs
Fact- A telescope half the price of my Mobley can see a gnats ass on the moon.

So if we really landed on the moon there would be a bunch of crap left behind. Has anyone ever seen a picture of a bunch of wrappers, beer cans and that rover they left behind? No? Then we were never there.

So the world being flat isn't really that much of a stretch!

And my post was funny because...?

Go ahead, watch the vid and tell yourself that what he documented isn't really what he documented. Or explain it.

I was just talking to my friend about this.

I realized how bizarre it is for me to have the interests that I have (MMA and Pool), because when I post on these forums, I find myself COMPLETELY out of place.

I have both College and University degrees (College and University are different things in Canada), I read 20 or 30 science books every year, I drop in on University lectures for casual interest sometimes, I have very intellectual friends who are in Ph.D programs, etc. etc. And I do environmental research / writing for a living. I am a genuine geek.

And then I come here, and find myself SURROUNDED by twits, fools and cretins trying to sell me absurd nonsense, flat earthism, creationism, global warming is a mythism, whatever. The most anti-intellectual rubbish you can think of.

I honestly don't understand what attracts me to these hobbies... But here I am. :)

That's great. I am a scientist too. Review the vid and explain how the mountains can be seen, when of course, they should be below the line of sight due to the curvature of the earth.

You telling people how "qualified" you are, frankly means nothing.

I didn't say I was "qualified". I'm not a scientist by any means. I was saying that I have intellectual interests, and yet the majority of the people I meet in the worlds of my hobbies seem to be very anti-intellectual, which is odd.

And I'm sorry, but I do have better things to do than watch quackumentaries about the flat earth.

I wish you the best of luck with your tinfoil hat business.

Exactly what I thought. You have plenty of time to spend posting on a Billiards forum, but zero time to back up your ad hominem attacks.

For the record, I have stated that I don't necessarily believe in the flat earth. However, I do know that we are being lied to about many, many things by those in power.

If somehow I was in a situation where I was forced to state what I believe is really going on in this world, I would have to say that I'm leaning towards the scenario that this world is more like a very good virtual reality simulation of sorts. (And yes, there is evidence to support this theory -- look up videos by Tom Campbell for an introduction -- oh, but you don't have time for that either I'm sure ).

So you're just funnin' with us. Just as I thought.

As for being able to see mountain tops from a distance, if you really don't see the mistake in the video you need to visit your high school geometry teacher -- kind of a reunion -- and have her explain angles to you.

One large problem with the FE theory is explaining what the Sun does in high latitudes (north and south) during the summer. And then there is the problem that it's high noon in Hawaii when it is the middle of the night in Paris. This is easy to verify and the FE fools have no answer or explanation.

Maybe the sun revolves around the earth.

When you fly from Tokyo, Taiwan or Manila to LA you gain 3-4 hours.
If you leave around 10 PM, you get to LA a few hours earlier than that .

Huh. I got an A in geometry and trigonometry. I guess that I didn't understand anything that I was taught after all.

I'm sure that you are aware that at some distance, something out in the distance on a curved earth would fall below the line of sight, and thus it wouldn't be visible. Unless you are saying that once you understand "angles" properly that you will be able to see Hawaii from Paris.

All of that is due to the "International Dateline Conspiracy" that is propagated by the Trilateral Commission.

Yes and the classic example is distant sailing ships rising up out of the sea as they get closer. The mountains that the FE fool tries to use in the video are a bad example. You may want to look into "convex bounding polygons" and the implications for mountain visibility.

It really doesn't matter if it's mountains, ships, or buildings. Unless you're debating the equation used for the curvature of 8 inches per mile squared, the peak of the mountain should have been below the horizon. (By horizon, I mean, below the terrain in front of the mountain).
