Is Shaw the best player on American soil

The Kuwait open would be his biggest win with the toughest field. 3x Turning Stone, but sometimes the field is rather weak with a very limited # of international participants.

He did win a DCC big foot challenge.

Lost to Justin Bergman and Shane in long race 10b. Both within the last 18 months.

I'm ready to see Shaw in a rematch with Shane, or maybe vs Dennis or a big name Taiwan player. I dont see anyone wanting to play him now though. His break is just too good.

LOL - Shaw is having a great year and he is a world class player but what championship has he ever won? In the category of best player who has never won a championship I'd put him at or near the top.

So far this year he has won:

$50,000 1st Kuwait 9-Ball Open
$25,000 1st Challenge of Champions 2016
$16,000 1st DCC 2016 10B Challenge
$8,000 1st Turning Stone Classic XXVI
$7,000 1st 5th Annual Steinway Cl.
$2,500 1st 28th Ocean State 9-Ball Championship
$1,800 1st Eastern St. Open/Pro C'ship 2016
$1,750 1st 7th NE P&F HOF 9B Open
$1,100 1st PPA Tour 2016 #5 Open/Pro
$960 1st PPA Tour 2016 #12 Open/Pro

Seems to me that the first three listed are prestigious events. Maybe they are only prestigious if Shane wins?

Van Boening has a better resume for the year. I wouldn't be surprised if Jayson is equally as good next year. I'd be a little surprised if he was better.

It would be hard for anybody to be better next year, he just may pull it off though.
Needs a little more work on mental game, then he will be for the most part unbeatable.

It's to the point now that I expect him to make his kick shots.

simply...YES

at this moment in time Jayson is the best player on American soil maybe even the world at this present moment

Who won the US Open 4 out of the last 5 years, including this year? I don't recall Jason Shaw being the winner of the US Open this year, or any year for that matter....do you?

Right now Darren is not even in the conversation

1

Agreed on Darren.......

on a separate note anyone in this thread who thinks shaw is the best player on American soil is insane. Shane had one of his if not the best year he's ever had. Sure shaw is hot....but he is not even close to "the Best" .....there might be someone somewherein the world who runs faster then Usain Bolt on a given day.....does that make him "the Best" ..lol

Jayson is five years younger than Shane. How many US Opens had Shane won prior to 2011? It seems if you want to make that comparison you should do it based on each player's resume as of being 28 years old.

It seems as if we still haven't seen Jayson's best game yet. He is continuing to get better each year.

when is Jayson going to have a rematch with Bergman? I think he needs to make sure he can beat Justin in a long match before we even talk Shane.

I wonder if Darren applied for american citizenship? He married an american(asian heritage) girl also. I've heard numerous times Shaw mentioning that hes working on his american citizenship.

Maybe next year for the MC cup, we'll have both on team USA. haha.

With Jayson on US team, US have an even chance.

If they stop with the jump cues, we have a more than even chance.

If you want to use age as an excuse, then how do you explain WU being better than Shaw today, when he was just 16 yrs old? 5 yrs younger....LOL, so Shane I guess should take a 5 yr break so Shaw can catch up right....LMAO

An excuse? You do realize it takes athletes a number of years to reach their potential. A major league baseball player is much better at 28 than he was at 23.

You can think Shaw now plays the same speed he did five years ago if you want but it simply isn't true.

Using your logic, everyone reaches their potential when they are 16 and never gets any better.

Shane is better today than he was 5 years ago. He has won 4 of the last 5 US opens. He only won one before he turned 28.

I never said anything about Shane taking a break. I simply said compare Shane at 28 vs Jayson at 28. If you can't see the logic in that, I do not know what else to tell you.

What's great is we'll be seeing more of these two in the future. Fight night should be really enjoyable to watch.
