Dennis Searing is making tips now

Shame you can't afford a phone with one of those camera thingies on it.

....and they are awesome!

The tips are pig skin and are not layered. They hold chalk GREAT and they have a very quiet hit. I have a medium on my Szam and I played with it for a few hours yesterday for the first time. The tips when naked and chalkless to me resemble very fine dense and hard suede. When I chalked it for the first time the tip took chalk very well, it made my regular masters go on in a creamy layer like the time I tested out that expensive Kamui chalk. Dennis has told me that the feel of the tips leather is because of the high quality of the pig skin that he chose and it really is great. I described it to him as a luxurious feel when chalking, it effortlessly seems to accept chalk.

Im taking some time off from competing at pool right now, but that still doesn't diminish the excitement I felt yesterday when I was trying this tip out.

Dennis is all about precision cue making and he has brought that amazing attention to detail to these tips. I highly recommend these tips.

"Searing" Precision Layered Tips

I have been playing pool for 57 years. I started with a Champion with a backing, then LePro with a backing, then every new tip you can imagine layered and not layered. I must tell you that I have been playing with a medium precision tip for almost two months and have never experienced the feel, consistency or the chalking ability that these tips produce. I personally know that Dennis put the people overseas through their paces for almost a year to get it right. If you haven't experienced them yet, don't wait. Get on the band wagon of so many seasoned players. You are in for a very pleasant surprise and the price is unusually fair for the quality you will experience. Run em all!!!!!

Best of luck Dennis, as usual you exceeded every expectation. Oh, I forgot, It's a "SEARING"

You sir are freaking hilarious

Surprisingly there's no hardness rating for the tips yet. If not for that I'd like to try one.

I'm not 100% sure what that post means, BUT , I've got a stack of hondos that would have been put to bad use. So if you're down and trying to play Blackie - I'm down. We all around the same place let's do it!

Will there also be a ten year waiting list for these?

And exactly what will make them better than say, Ultra Skins for an example.

Because of his name? So, he can re brand any single layer tip currently on the market, and people will be drooling on them and paying 50 bucks to have a Searing tip on their shaft.

Hey, if you can't own a 400 dollar Searing shaft, at least it can have a Searing tip on it, and it will play like one.

Black Boar Tony should have thought of this many Moons ago.

I'll stay with Skins, Talisman, Black King, Navigator and a few others that have proven themselves to me and my customers over the years. After all, there comes a point in time, even with Cue Tips that one can't reinvent the wheel, or cue tips, right. They are only thin slices of leather, held together with glue after all.

Serious, Dennis has made a name for himself over the decades, and rightly so, he has earned that right. But at this point in time, with new pool cue equipment and now the race to see who has the best cue tip, the guy could press his own poo and people would be paying 50 bucks to put it on their shafts.

Dennis is merely taking advantage of his name. Is he actually making them himself in his shop, or contracting it out to someone else and he is putting his name on the box.

Would you purchase a Terry Ashton tip over a Dennis Searing tip, even if mine were better. Dennis can put one of his shafts on a refurbished bar cue, stamp an S on the butt cap, and people would be cutting off their dicks and adding 4 grand to it to own one. What does that tell you.

OMG, I just looked at a picture of them. Appears that a grade one student scribed the S, M, and H on them with a metal awl.

Thanks for the tip on getting the tips for $10. Just saved myself $30 on them. Can't wait to try them out.

Lot of air there...Duro would be helpful. Anyone playing these that chirp in with similarities with well known tips they have played please chirp.

Went to site figuring -S- would be charging $10 for tip and $9.95 to ship. But appears $10 covers.

-Kat,

Where are you coming up with $50 for one. People have provided you with a link to get them for $10 each right in this thread alone. Seems like he is shipping quickly too. Trust me, I love Ultraskins & Sib's but for $7 more per tip, i'd like to give these a try for sure.

Well as you said you don't know what I meant & the rest of your post confirmed that.

No, there currently is not a wait list. Probably would only ever happen if he ran out of them?

Only you can decide if they are better than Ultra Skins. Opinions vary.

He did not rebrand any tip, he had them made to his requests. I do not think any of us can control someone else's drooling problem.

Dennis does not charge $400 for a shaft and no tip is going to give you that performance.

I am sure Tony is happy with his current situation and given the choice, would rather have come with a million dollar idea verses a tip he makes a buck off of.

You should stick with what makes you happy. I mean, "They are only thin slices of leather, held together with glue after all."

I know Dennis pretty well, but asking him to press his own "poo" is just not something I have ever thought of. You might be able to corner the market on that idea?

So let me get this straight, a guy who has more cue work than he can do, decides to sell tips, that don't bare his name actually, for really penny on the dollar profit, compared to building his own cues or shafts, is taking advantage of his name?

No, I would not. Again, as the same with the "Poo" and "Drooling", I just have no knowledge of anyone "cutting off their dicks". And I do not know of anyone paying 4 grand for a bar cue with a shaft, but if someone wants something bad enough and they actually can afford it, its their business, not mine.

He did make it past grade 1 (?) and used a pen. He does that because he measures them himself to insure they are graded correctly. I guess he could have added some flare to those S M or Q. Shame on him.

I hope this answer some of your questions. I hope you have a nice day.

Thank you for replying with class to this gentleman that clearly has some envy for Dennis and all of his products. Thanks to Dennis for his hard work and ideas to help and provide a better quality tip than the rock hard stained and dyed tips that currently flood the market. Some people are too closed minded to give some people credit where it's due when helping to develop a superior product for the pool community and NOT charging crazy market prices to get rich.

I was using Ki-tech before this and before that I was using Kamui.

Hey sorry if I got some info wrong. I just saw that indeed they are layered. lol duh

I guess all I had to do to realize this is to look at his website

www.precisiontip.com

Anyways....they are awesome and I like them alot!

$10 each, going to give them a try, ordering a soft and a med now.

Honestly I'm not sure how many ways you can make a cue tip anymore. When a new tips come out, its all the rage... then about a year in the quality goes down hill and your in the hit or miss territory for getting a good one or a bad one. We all know that Mr. Searing is about 'Quality'. It will be interesting to see if he can command that type QC to tips over a period of time.

Is he actualy making the tip him self , or is he subbing them out
