Attention John Disque !!

Mr. Disque,

Only know one thing about "Fats". When Ronnie Allen stayed at our house in Vegas many years ago, he said the following about "Fats", "Yeah, I could give him a ball (one hole) but I didn't like it". A pretty strong statement about a guy who couldn't play world class pool don't you think?

You have heard of Minnesota Fats. I doubt he ever heard of you.

Case closed.

You heard of Fatty because he got famous and marketed his cheap products to people like you who shop at Sears for your pool cues.

It would be like some no-name idiot going around claiming that he's better than Shane VanBoening and has beat him several times. --- Then getting rich because the public believed it.

It's a great comparison too because Shane is a quiet introvert just like Mosconi, and I suppose anyone could do it to him too... because the public is stupid about pool.

Cmon, lyn.

Disque grew up in philly. Your tale took place in vegas.

Which one is likely to be fact?

I know that answering is just throwing gas on this idiots fire BUT here i go. I live in Tulsa and there is a longtime denizen of the 'hall who traveled with Fatty and Marshall "Squirrel" Carpenter in the '60's. I've asked Jim(last name withheld) this very question: How good did Fats play? He said that he was a good, not great, one-hole player. Also a better than average 3cushion player. Said his best game was thematch-up, he usually had the nuts before a ball was hit. Also said he was fun to be on the road with. Don't know where this guy is getting all his bs info.

Whaddiya mean 'No one liked him"?
Fats was VERY likeable , not just by the general public but players gathered around him
like moths to a lightbulb.

Its good to see most everyone else is aware, that Mr. Disque does not have a clue about anything he is rambling on about!..I have wasted too much of my time, trying to enlighten him!..Let him just stay in the dark, and not realize that Fats was always immensely more popular than Mosconi, and did way more to promote the game of pool!

PS..What will it take to make him just go away??? :frown: (he appears to be a little 'thick-headed')

I don't play broke chumps who have to resort to distracting their opponents to have a chance of beating them.

I only play gentlemen.

I see pool and billiards as a respectable gentleman's sport - not a sport for bar-hopping punks.

It's just the way I am and I don't give a damn if you don't like it.

You seem kind of angry.
Since you only play with gentlemen, perhaps you could have those gentlemen teach you some manners

Difficult to imagine that you don't see any good that Fats did for the game

Says the guy who came on this forum to ask people what cue to buy. LOL

I'll just leave this right here...

No I didn't - I asked if anyone here had ever played with a Jerry Olivier, a Carolina Custom or a Gulyassy - because these were the three cues (of the many thousands of brands) that match the specs I was looking for.

I got a lot of great information from that thread and isn't that why we're here?

I believe your comment was - buy the cheapest one until you get better. LOL

Erggggg...

The guy has a thread on here asking people for their incite on sharking (or the best ways to distract your opponent while he/she is shooting).

At the same time - the guy has been stalking me all over the net and obsessing on me and he's not the only one.

I can get him all the action he ever dreamed of but people who resort to this level of non-play are usually broke and I simply DO NOT play pool with people like this. I don't need his nickles and dimes and I don't like him as a person.

You poo fly.

This thread should be named ATTN: "Minnesota Fats Fans."

AZB could link you to hundreds of Chinese items that purchased Fats' name and they could make millions and share in the fat-man's profit.

I am certainly not the first person to expose Rudolf Wanderone as the pretender he was... It's documented by thousands of top-shelf pool players of the time... but I can't stop you from believing what you want to believe.

I think most of you just like to argue and need someone to blame for your miserable lives.

it's spelled insight.

Miserable lives?
Look at you sitting there in that cheap suit that's two sizes too big. Where did you get that thing? I'll bet it's self-folding.
Looks like you've dug yourself a pretty deep hole here on the forum, and I don't think your ladder is going to be long enough to get you out. At least not in the foreseeable future.
You're already on a lot of peoples ignore list, and rightfully so.

Mr. Disque,

Your responses to this thread remind me of an old axiom; "It is better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt"! JMHO.

"Don't call him Minnesota Fats! He doesn't even know where Minnesota is!" ~Hubert "Daddy Warbucks" Cokes

"My dad gave me great advice: He said, 'Never do anything that makes you unhappy.' So, right then, I decided to do nothing." ~Ruddolph Waderone

"There has always been a few hundred players in this country that would happily swim a river of shit to play Fats for money." ~Robert Byrne & Danny Mccoorty

"In no other sport could he (Rudolf Wanderone) possibly fool the public like this. Wouldn't I sound foolish if I publicly announced that I could kick 100-yard field goals, or drive a golf ball 500 yards or do a 720-degree dunk? But pool has a public that knows nothing and a media that knows nothing. No one knows what a real pool player can do, or what goes into winning one single tournament. So - he is free to tell them whatever they want to believe, but he never beat anyone that could play. ~Danny DiLiberto

"You keep giving this clown the false recognition that he craves, and doesn't deserve, and you'll help this con-artist make a name for himself while the real players will have zero recognition and die broke." ~Danny DiLiberto
