John Barton Match on Facebook Stream

There's a thin line between bravery and stupidity. By your logic if I go up to Mike Tyson and bltch slap him and get KTFO I'm now a bad mofo.

I really don't know how you make this crap up, ever think of becoming a fiction writer?
Jason

You have no brains, balls or heart. Maybe you could rewrite the wizard of Oz

Agreed Justin and I were talking about just how much more effort needs to be put in to developing a truly good stroke. Way way way more than Americans think.

Here I agree with you and the hardest part is not going back to old stroke under pressure
This might sound stupid but I try to link my stroke to a metonedome like they use for piano playing so I air stroke in that rythem so it gives me a slight pause in my back stroke
and I repeat it when I fall on the shot line, keeps me from onestrokeing

When you gamble with people you like!

And some people don't have what it takes to make enough in the first place to be able to indulge themselves playing matches like this.

Maybe you should google 'fine line'.....
...in two widely publicized matches, JB lost 9-6 and 11-7....
...if Tyson hit you back....you'd get stopped for speeding.

Those shots that the pros make look easy when you watch recorded matches..... They ain't easy staring down the barrel of a gun.

All those great moves you learned in practice don't look so high percentage when the guy you're playing banks from anywhere.

Like Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan until you get hit in the face.

Each side put up 6.7k.

The bet was 4k and we raised it to 6k right before the match and when I tied it at 4:4 Justin asked if I wanted to bet the last 700 he brought to bet with and I said sure what's an extra 700 at this point....

Thank you too Jessica Finch Massey and the entire staff at Jamaica Joes for being such gracious hosts for our big two-man tournament this weekend. I almost won :-). Came up a little short but was well taken care of in the best poolroom in Oklahoma City and one of the best in the world.

Also thanks to my coaches Matthew Alston and Joseph Tomkowski - you didn't have good material to work with but you did a pretty good job making me competitive....Thanks for supporting me.

Thanks to Rocky Blayne Biswell for the custom extensions, they got me out of trouble several times.

Thanks to Justin Marks and Marielle for the action. You were wonderful to play with gracious and fierce. I would like to think it could have gone either way but I think you definitely came more prepared physically and mentally. You fought well and had great answers for every trap.

And lastly thank you to my lovely wife Karen Barton for allowing me to indulge my poolpayer fantasy. Next time I will, at your instruction, wait until we are millionaires.

John, as I said earlier after watching several games, I made you the favorite!..I was not impressed at all, with Justin's moving skills..He made some horrible decisions, that you failed to take advantage of!..If I had been coaching you, you would have won easily!..But you will never beat anyone, if you don't make them pay for their mistakes!

PS..Suggestion..stick to making cases!..You are never going to survive hustling high $$$ one pocket matches! :sorry:

Here's what I don't understand, SJD. I know you are an accomplished player who made a name for himself playing back in the day. And I'll certainly give you credit that you still have a good mind for the game.

BUT

Why so cutting and, well, mean spirited about it when commenting on JB's matches?

What I see is a guy, and sure, he's a bit of a whacky one, who shares the common interest all of us here have (pool), who has gone out twice now betting sky high with his own cash for the thrill of it. He was competitive both times and *gracious in defeat* both times. And as was said many times before, he made sure these matches were streamed live so all of us could enjoy them.

I wasn't expecting a pro level match this weekend.

I did enjoy, though, that these guys played for what they did and invited us in to watch.

Neither guy is a banger.

#keepingperspective

best,
brian kc
