Yep, Fast Larry was the Voldemort of pool. He was the Storm Giant of Trolls. There was nowhere to hide once his ire was raised.
Here's just a typical morning coffee thread for Fast Larry. He's basically calm in all these posts. Just a day at the office for Larry.

Several years ago I was banned for six weeks for calling JoeyA a name. When I look back on it I can't believe I actually did something like that, especially since Joey and I are good friends.
But, to tell you the truth, I wasn't the same person back then either. Too much booze, and too much hanging out with the wrong kind of people. All those hand painted women made out of vinyl took it's toll. One night out with Lola and all you have left the next morning is a crumpled receipt from the Garden of Eaton sex store. I was a wreck, I tell you.
After I got busted I did my six week stretch at the AZBPCFM, or Arizona Billiards Penis, I beg your pardon, Penal Colony For Men in Pocatello, Idaho. There's a similar facility for Women in Sarasota, Florida, but it hasn't been used in years.
It was colder than a well digger's ass when I walked through the main gate. Over to the side I could see Mr. Wilson. He only smiled as I passed by, heading for my cell block.
Suddenly, from out of nowhere...........

Larry wasn't a troll so much as an extremely angry curmudgeon. He couldn't stand to be called out for his Minnesota Fats' style claims and went crazy going off on people in the worst ways.
A troll is much more insidious....they go around and find people to target and topics to target and delight in pushing buttons and watching the fire spin out of control.
On these forums some of the constant antagonists act like trolls on some topics and with some people but in other areas they are fairly normal. That's why we have our "be cool" policy which covers banning people who just don't contribute anything of value to the forum. If all or most of what you do is make negative posts to others we send you on your way to go bother someone else.
And we have a Forum Admins Group that trades information on banned users so they can't just easily jump to the next forum and cause trouble there.
Don't forget the racist, homophobic slurs mixed with Christian quotations from the holy bible. I was on the end of one of his rants once because he accused both me and Sammy Jones of lying when he told everyone he went to prayer meetings with Lori Jon and she told Sammy she had no recollection of him.
Just think ... if English could have controlled himself with his aiming obsession we would still have plenty of beautiful women to look at. :grin:

I find that we can exchange ideas and opinions without the insults and slurs. I am pretty sure I can tell you where I stand without trying to make you want to kill me.

enough to know what I am talking about. Pretty sure I have had more experience responding negatively to stalkers, trolls, bullies and just plain assholes....
here is one thing I have NEVER been banned for;
I have never been banned for saying anything to anyone without them having attacked me first. EVER.
That reduces to "he started it" of course but the overarching point is that allowing people to say anything they want like you claim to want the freedom to do leads to intense conflict that has zero actual value to anyone other than entertainment for the voyeurs who like to watch a shit show.
If you really want the "freedom" to speak your mind in filthy, disgusting, perverted, rude and shitty ways then there is a pool group out there that allows that....go there and hang out with the other five people who spend time there. Topics move at the rate of about one post a week if that.
In other well moderated forums there are thousands of people having hundreds of conversations that stay on topic and result in great information being exchanged which makes everyone reading them smarter.
To me that's preferable to being able to freely debase and defame others.
Stalkers.
Don't forget about the stalkers here. The guys who get so carried away with things that they can no longer distinguish between the online and real worlds, becoming consumed by their obsessions and hatred and personal failures.
Say what you will about perceived trolls and bullies, most of us have a firm enough grip on reality to not let what is said here bleed into our perception of the real world.

Sometimes the real world bleeds into forum conflicts when people from the real world who normally lurk start coming up and volunteering information that they think will be useful about participants in the online conflicts.
Which again goes to my point that forums which don't allow personal insults and personal conflicts to thrive don't have issues with any of this.
No one gets called a "stalker" because there are none. No one gets upset at anyone else enough to follow them around and post crap at or about them.
How did you like it over at the say anything you want in any way you want forum? Don't recall that you lasted very long there. Not pretty when people can go off on you any way they want to is it?

And the same seems to apply to bullies and trolls. Those who go around making snide remarks, defaming others, getting personal, they always have a justification.
What was yours? You like the verbal ripost is what you said I think.
I can appreciate that. It's fun to turn a phrase and come back with a witty reply. But it isn't always fun for everyone when you turn that same cleverness into making personal slurs. You might enjoy it and you might think the receiver should just "man up" and take it but that's not how it always goes.
Anyway, we can do this dance all day but the fact is you have had the same m.o. throughout several forums. Please don't act like you're not also part of the problem.
I was just sad about the chunky thread the outer day. And the one before. And before...
