Jayson Shaw best in world

Jayson might be one of the straightest shooters ever though. I think the Tawainese are the best rotation players. Wu, Chang, Ko brothers... They play a tournament or playing someone there speed everyday. Same with Filipinos. Most people on here if they see some guy win Derby he will be the the best player on the planet for a couple years even though he is like 1/100 winning tournaments.

I'll say this too for Americans. Our best players aren't playing tournaments every weekend. They are either not playing at all because nobody will play them or they are usually gambling. They aren't playing Joss Tour & $5,000 added tournaments every weekend.

And another thing lol sorry for going off but all you have to do is look at the match to see who the better player is. Wu didn't win the US Open be use he didn't play. World Titles? It's $30,000 for 1st it's in Qatar and it's a race to 9 nine ball. Whoever he's more shots on the 1 ball is going to win period. You can outplay someone so bad and still lose but I guess if that guy won the World 9 Ball he is the best. I play pool everyday, watch it, gamble, this is my life so I know what I'm talking about. Half the people that won World Titles would never win if pool wasn't a crap shoot. Races to 21, 10 ball, no luck on the break, balls spot up, tighter pockets, etc. There is 40 people that can win the World 9 Ball at least in the world probably even more than that and I'll bet half of them aren't even playing in it.

I am not a big fan of Shaw.

What is "the best" argument for? There are 3-50 players competing to be the best, that's what making the game so exciting to watch.

And why no European players mentioned that can beat Shaw? Darren? Albin? Joshua? etc etc?

Putting names here and we will end up just with statistical works.

I would love to see a big WINNER TAKES ALL event, 8-16 players, long race, single elimination, players posting their own money then bang... the winner may be the closest to BEST PLAYER.

I agree. There's so many good players & they all get out when the balls are in there favor. Depends on the day and who is getting more opportunities after the break that's it in 8 ball, 9 ball, & 10 ball. Certain players do things a little better than others. Like Alex he's really really careful and rarely makes mental errors or gets sloppy, SVB has a huge break & works on his game probably the hardest out of everyone, Shaw pockets balls really good, Efren kicks really good, plays caroms good, Souqet plays the bet patterns, etc... The top 20 guys are all so close in ability... I think heart comes into play more than anything that day, some days you can feel it the player is a little weak. Maybe I'm out breaking a guy that day, then I'm going to win... Next week somebody else wins.. 9 ball on fast cloth with 41/12 inch pockets is way too easy for top 20-50 players that even if your a full ball better than someone it's 50/50 even in a longer race to 9/11 like most tournaments are. I'll play anyone in the world if I get first break magic rack 9 ball... ANYONE and I don't think I'm the best player in the world

Some of you guys are funny.. Last week you think Dennis is the best, 4 days later you think Josh Fuller can beat Shaw since he won a pool tournament lol

Though I agree with you people put too much emphasis on a few crap-shoot (for world-class players) tournaments, and we don't say Filler can beat Shaw...

But please understand Filler is the real deal. FargoRate doesn't care whether somebody won a tournament. But he is rated high--even with you--for a reason. He's played 9 matches in our database against players who have been on the European Mosconi Cup team over the last two years. In fact Appleton is the only one he hasn't played.

He has a combined winning record of 83 wins 76 losses against this crowd

Wins, losses against

Albin Ouschan 29 15
Niels Feijen 16 17
Mark Gray 11 18
Jayson Shaw 11 10
Nick VandenBerg 11 9
Karl Boyes 9 5

I'm surprised nobody has blasted Jayson Shaw because he plays with a Meucci. I mean in the minds of all the Meucci haters one might think he has to be the best player in the world since he's spotting everyone right from the start by using one. Or one of the dumbest players in the world for playing with one.

It is a strikingly gorgeous cue unless he changed and I'm unaware of it.

I didn't mean to single him out. That's my mistake especially I never seen him play. My mistake I was misunderstood. I didn't mean him in particular. I'm just referring to anytime someone wins a decent tournament, not all but a lot on here say he should be on Mosconi or he should get invited to every one pocket tournament. Nothing wrong with having an opinion but I have mine also & really believe many people don't actually watch a full match and understand what's going on. I read on here a thousand times about how someone lost 5/3 or 5/4 in Mosconi and they just flat dogged it. Meanwhile the player that lost made half the amount of errors the player that won. That is what I can't stand. Again that's my mistake about Filler. Didn't mean to single him out I was just trying to make a point

Are those frames won and lost?

I have seen Filler play in person a couple of times, he has so much potential. Until the China Open though, I don't think he had won even a Eurotour event. I watched him get schooled by Johnny Archer in the final of the Hangelar Open last August. He had some temperament issues that day. Maybe playing in front of a home crowd put extra pressure on. But hey, he is 21, and just won a major with a stellar field.

Saying that, I would back Justin in a long race, whether they have the same fargo rate or not ;)

best player in the world? maybe when hes on, when not hes a beatabale pro without a plan b! so, my answer is no, he isnt!
when he dont matures his game im afraid he peaked in kuwait last year! just look at his results lately at worldstage, at mosconi one good match when it was decided, in london a lucky final where he really didnt look like the best, a 33rd at a eurotour and now in china a terrible loss after NVB let him off the hook already before! those are not results from the best in the world! maybe the 2nd best in the US since i dont see him ahead of SVB!
and please dont tell me he won a bunch of US tourneys lately! thats very nice but doesnt make one the best in the world!
and in gambling, who the hell is playing races to 100? 5 people? maybe he should ask orcullo nicely, im sure he gets his match!

well i'm sure glad someone else said it, I did (to the wrong crowd) and boy did i get it even end up being like kicked from the chat (not here) or something like that. Some people just take things waaaay to personal about a player that they like (just like the SVB overseas thing from last year) and Shaw going on a streak last year. And I also agree with someone else who said that he may of peaked.

excactly, remember last year before US open everybody was talking about wu being the best, then shane won US open, immediatly he was the best again followed by jayson who had a awesome run........and wu is still no1 everywhere lol
there is no best atm, theres a bunch of awesome shooters who can beat each other on any given day!

That's exactly what i was also saying at one time, it seems that whenever someone wins a big enough event they suddenly become "the best in the world'. All i'd like to see is someone was "One of" just once

Shaw is a great player and he has Scottish heritage which is another plus for him but I'd love to seem him in a "street" game in the Philippines. I've seen Efren getting the 8 from some guy wearing flip flops who I never heard of with a throng of people around the table gambling on every game.

I suspect if Mr Shaw went to the P I he would have players lined up to play him.

I'd like to see some type of regular "King of the Hill" 10-ball match that is a race between 50 to 100 where any opponent in the top 10-20 could challenge the reigning champ. (Maybe using Fargo rating and maybe only USA residents?). Maybe play at least one match a month.

What I think would be great is if the person making the challenge would need to post up a significant amount ($5000?) of their own money in order to play the current champ. This is similar to when Shane took on all comers in the long TAR matches.

I would say that if someone could successfully hold the title as the champ the longest over the year playing against the other top 10-20 players in the USA, that they could maybe be considered the best rotation player in the USA for that year.

Obviously, this could be opened up to the all players in the world, but because many wouldn't travel to the USA to do this, I don't think the champ could ever be able to be labeled as the best player in the world.

Yes, frames won and lost.

For instance, when I say Albin 29 15, that comes from three matches in our system between the two

Joshua 11 Albin 4 --China Open last week
Joshua 9 Albin 8 -- Eurotour Treviso Italian Open Nov 2016
Joshua 9 Albin 3 -- European Championship April 2016
