What do you think of this for a random bar 'beater' cue?

Found a link on Ebay to get it for $62 + $6 shipping.

I'm wanting to start hitting up random bars to play some new people and see how my improvement at my local bar the past couple months has worked. I don't want to bring my pool gear with me, so I want to get a simple cue to bring with me that I don't have to worry about. I'm sure this will, at the very least, play as well as a really nice house cue but what do you guys think?

All I really care about is something without a shit load of wobble with a tip that I know is going to be decent, which I can't guarantee using house cues. Also since it's a cheap cue I wanted to go with something that's an 'all wood' design and this thing legitimately looks like a house cue, unlike most Pete's that are obviously not. (not that I'm good enough to hustle most people but I just don't like the idea of walking into a bar full of strangers and standing out)

If not a really decent tip when shipped, always change it to a Ultraskins M for starters.

Shows it has a $23 tip that comes stock. Kamuai black soft. I'm used to playing with a triangle--any opinion on the Kamuai tip?

I wouldn't mind spending the extra cash if it plays at least sort of like my play cue, this actually looks pretty decent.

I love my Kamuai tip. It's med hard, not soft, but they are great tips.
 
Kamui tips are overpriced and mediocre. The SIB Pro is the greatest tip ever made, and it costs $3.

$3!!!!

Buy a ten-pack of these tips and you're set for life... At the price of a Kamui Clear.

For $3 I'll definitely check this out. I always thought Moori overpricing their tips is the only reason other tips became so expensive. All too often price gets mistaken for quality.
 
I bought a cheap Valhalla cue for my friends to use when they came over and it warped like a bow inside of one month. My son has one and it has stayed fairly straight. The tip it came with is ok and will be 10x better than most house cues you will encounter at a bar. Good luck I hope you get a good one. In my opinion Id pony up a little more cash and get a Schmelke Sneaky.

I agree, I really like the passable look of the Valhalla but the cue he linked seems like it might be pretty good quality for a $120 cue.

Much better wood and shaft.

I have one of those made of rosewood and it plays good for a cheap cue. I have had it for several years and it is still straight and looks new. Matter of fact, I still have the price sticker on the butt.

I use it as my break cue, but I also play with it on occasion.

For the price, it is hard to beat.

Yea, pulled the trigger and ordered it. That's a lot of cue for $116. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
 
You will not be disappointed with a Players Cue.
Especially if you got the HXT shaft.

I use one at a Bar Box Meetup.com get together so that I don't look pretentious.
 
I was stuck at league night without my shaft, didn't realize it until I was there. I had my shaper on hand and used it on a house cue with a decent amount of tip left. Worked like a charm. It's like the tip was already broken in, i just had to remove the volcano crater in the middle of the tip. I usually play with an ld. This is the best way to go without spending a dime. Give it a try

That's OK once in a while.
But to count on finding a decent house cue with a decent tip every time you play is living dangerously.
Just spend the $80 for a Players Sneaky Pete and be done with it.
Plus, consistency comes from becoming familiar your cue and not having to judge and adjust for a different cue each time you play.
 
If I were you, I would buy a cheap butt your regular playing shaft will go on and use it to drag to the pool hall when you don't want to take your full set up.

This way at least you will be familiar with half the set up instead of trying to adjust back and forth.
 
get a dufferin 58 inch house cue for 35 bucks. send it to any fast turnaround cue maker and have him cut it in half and put a screw in. then you have a solid hitting quality cue for almost nothing.

or have him put in a standard joint that has the same threads as your shafts and use one of those. but at a higher cost.
 
Taking a sneaky like that to a bar makes me nervous, cause you have to keep your
eye on it at all times or someone will mistake it for a house cue.

I take an old Meucci to a bar. Not pretentious, yet not a random house cue.

What is SIB Pro and who makes them?
P.S. Nothing wrong with the inexpensive Elkmaster tips used on many house cues.

Yea I got that HXT package, I looked at it seperatley, was over $200 worth of cue for $116. And it's a win/win, if I hate it I can still let my girlfriend play with it. Lol
