Here's the additional information I mentioned above, shown for the same 13 players, i.e., those who have appeared in at least 3 Cups.
This way of looking at the records counts a full point for each player in a singles win or loss, a half a point for each player in a doubles win or loss, a third of a point for each player in a trebles (played only in 2006) win or loss, and one-fifth of a point (one-sixth in 2006 when the teams had 6 players) for each player in a team win or loss. So the following numbers essentially answer the question: "What numerical contribution has each player made to the overall Mosconi Cup match scores?"
Davenport (3 years)-- 7.0 - 3.5 (winning percentage of 67%)
Williams (5 years) -- 9.0 - 5.5 (62%)
Strickland (14 years) -- 27.2 - 18.4 (60%)
Archer (17 years) -- 31.8 - 25.6 (55%)
Deuel (9 years) -- 15.1 - 12.4 (55%)
Jones (7 years) -- 12.0 - 11.7 (51%)
Hatch (4 years) -- 6.9 - 6.9 (50%)
Morris (10 years) -- 17.2 - 17.5 (50%)
Rempe (3 years) -- 4.5 - 5.0 (47%)
Varner (4 years) -- 5.5 - 7.5 (42%)
Van Boening (10 years) -- 16.3 - 23.2 (41%)
Bergman (3 years) -- 3.2 - 6.9 (32%)
Dechaine (4 years) -- 2.4 - 10.4 (19%)
So the order did change using this measure, and Earl drops to third instead of first. (Of course, if you want to count just the 6 players who have appeared in more than 5 Cups, then Earl is first on this measure, too.:wink

I agree with that.
I can understand pulling against a player you don't like, but some of the comments in the two threads have been over the top, IMO.
May be time to take a break from AzB again. Too much negativity here.
Believe it or not, I do love pool. I can't play, can't run a rack anymore, unless it's a Mickey Mouse rack, but I know pool well. It's been a big part of my life since I was a teenager. I'm 63 now. That's a long f-ing time. :grin-square:
I just want to enjoy pool. Here on AzBilliards, which is a pool forum, it's hard to enjoy pool.

Ugh. The natural progression of a JAM thread:
1. States opinion
2. Tells anyone with a dissenting opinion how wrong they are.
3. Starts calling people 'knockers'.
4. Restates opinion. Maybe while insulting non-'muricans
5. Starts calling people 'trolls'.
6. Gets a bunch of support from a few members.
7. Restates opinion tons of times. Probably in larger, colored font.
8. Calls more people 'trolls'.
9. Claims there is hate on AZ, threatens to go back to SafeBook.

When I was 15, my granpappy told me that if I run into a jerk once in a while, that was to be expected. If I run into a few jerks in a week, that was bad luck. If I ran into jerks every day, maybe I was the jerk.
