Tampa Florida

You will be at the best pool room, Strokers. Get the Freddie shrimp, it's the best. Sponge docks in Tarpon springs has good Greek food and little shops. Clearwater beach is close. Honeymoon island state park is beautiful.

+1 on the Freddie Shrimp

Any good pool rooms to visit in Tampa or places to visit or recommended places to eat? I'm going to Tampa in November with my girlfriend for a tournament but I plan to fly in a day early and leave a day late.

I would want to check out Stix, and Stroker's billiards in Palm Harbor FL, if I were visiting Tampa. I can't remember which one I visited back in the late 90s, but I had a really great time. Many very strong players there. They had a very strong weekly tournament going on. There was a good tournament every night of the week in that area. I wish I would have never left. Loved that area.

Close to 20 years since I was at Stroker's , and it is still going strong I imagine. I miss that place. Very cool crowd back in those days, and awesome players. There were some very pretty female players there too, that played a strong B speed.

Is there any place not a hour away? Traffic in that town is horrendous.

Just got back, met a friend in Baluka’s in Brandon, traveling from St. Pete. I thought I was in Los Angeles.

That's not possible. Maybe there was an accident or it was 4pm.

St Pete (I have a house there) traffic is nothing like other cities. I'd hate for anyone to get the wrong idea.

Hey Dave, weren't you the one that said "Get the Freddie shrimp, it's the best."?

He was talking about Palm Harbor. :)

And St Pete has great seafood. I'm sure there's something in Tampa, but I never would have a reason to go to Tampa for seafood.

Freddie shrimp is the best around here. I'd argue about St. Pete seafood being great but i'm comparing it to baltimore and we do seafood differently up there. They just don't do seafood very good in florida imo.

Thanks, some people here, got some games. Going to try the blackened grouper and Freddie's Shrimp.

So many great places to eat in the Tampa, St Pete, Clearwater area. Most of what people have posted are all good. Try some of the little places down on any of the beaches and you should do fine.

If your up for a little ride go to Tarpon Springs and have lunch at one of the greek restaurants in the sponge district. It is a little of a tourist area but I still like it.

I normally spend 6-8 weeks(Feb-march) in Tampa and split my pool time between Strokers and Crooked cue and the only complaint I have about either of them is the smoking.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

Playing in the Womens US Ameteur Championships for a chance to compete in my first WPBA Masters event next year.

It was 4pm. So there you go, but wow it was terrible.

Two of the best places to eat in Tampa are Berns steakhouse and this place called Ulele. Berns has their own farm and dessert room and Ulele doesn't use a freezer for food because it's just that fresh.

If you want poolrooms that have really nice playing diamonds go to Crooked cue in Clearwater or CM's place in Seminole.

Diamond Billiards in Cape Coral is about 2 hours south.

These are old photos before the accident and remodel.

Berns has the largest private wine collection in the US but Ulele has the best prices. A Napa Silcer Oak is only around $115. A steak
