Shaw says you can make a living playing pool. Can you really make a living playing pool, or is he just talk about his peers at the top of the pool echelon?

Depends on what you call "making a living". It takes a 6-figure income (whether it's one or two people earning) to have any kind of comfortable living in any metro area in this country. Only the elite pros are capable of making a living. Everybody else (the rest of the pros) struggle just to "get by".
