Current top 10 cue builders still taking orders?

I’d prefer names that can deliver a cue within say 1 year, if that’s not too fast.

Talk to Keith Josey, u wont be disappointed.
His waiting time is 1 yr the last time i checked.

Hard to beat Josey cues for price design n playability.

Andy Gilbert n Eddie Cohen

Im interested in getting cues from Andy Gilbert n Eddie Cohen.

Does anyone knows if Andy is still taking orders and what is the turnaround for both ?

Thanks

Not sure which you consider TOP 10.
But Aaron Astle of Double AA cues does very nice work,, And is a great guy to work with..

not probably considered in the top 10 but Pete Ohman (omen cues) does great work. He replies promptly and gives updates while building your cue. You can get a cue built at 4-6 months. Reasonably priced as well.

ron kilby will make you a great playing wood to wood joint cue, and youll have it sometimes in weeks

he doesnt splash his cues with tons a shiny finish,
but they play great

more known for his carom cue work, but he makes pool cues as well

Dan Janes ( Joss Cues) has been doing custom cues since the late 60's. Probably 6 months to 1 year. A gentleman and a pleasure to deal with. He told me 6 months for my cue and I got it in less than 5 months. As far as I am concerned, he under promises and over delivers.

If you want a top 10 cue builder (as in Searing, Ginacue, etc.), I don't think any of them are taking orders. If any of them are taking orders, the wait list is probably in the 10 year + range.

I think I remember reading recently that he stopped taking orders. Just making what he wants to, then selling them.
re: Frey
My understanding is that his lathes are down and he's waiting for repairs.

^^^ This is what gets my vote as well.

Not sure about Gilbert.
Cohen's wait time is appx 2 years now.
Sooner you order, the sooner you'll have it.

Some will disagree but the build time for a cue is secondary to the choice of cue maker. If I truly want a cue built by a specific maker, I don't hold him to a specific date.

I don't expect 2 years to turn into 4, but a buyer sets himself up for disappointment if they are absolutely rigid about a due date.

Ordering a cue from one of the "top ten" or "top tier" makers is ordering something custom from an artist and it is a different process than buying a semi-custom or a fancy production cue.

Totally agree. I just put a year for discussion sakes.
