I would use it on house cues and low end cues , find it's limitations and go from there.
Even a 3 legged buffalo has value.

It'd probably be fine for changing or shaping tips, which is enough for most pool players.
I have a "lathe" like this, but I consolidate it on a wood support, and made a support for drill machine. It's a decent tool for home tip replacement, ferrule replacement, shaft cleaning and sealing, I was able to put a leather wrap using this one.
You never should leave the rollers to contact directly the shaft, I made a collar from a rubber pipe so I'm using it to protect the shaft.
I wouldn't recommend this tool if you have big expectations, also it's not a portable lathe in my opinion.
