Barry Behrman died a few years ago. Pat Fleming took over the US Open 9 ball. Its running like clockwork now. Check out their webpage, or follow along the forums when its closer to October, for all the latest info.

I think that unlike before, it is no longer acceptable for the event to be a money loser.
It was a labor of love and provided benefit of sorts other than fiscal.
Without implying Brady and Shannon have anything but love for dear ol dad...I don't there is the same love for the event in them as there was in Barry.
It was absolutely one of his babies.

Apologies to the OP. I thought since you have not been around the forums much, you didn't know that Barry had died, and that you mixed up Barry and Brady's names. And that the BD article you were referencing was from before Barry died and Pat took over.

Behrman states holding event at Q-Masters was considered but they decided against it.

I would say greatly disappointing. I thought the Open was on a good track.
Thanks. Looks like the apple does not fall far from the Behrman tree.... I anticipate a year of stall tactics, press releases about upcoming press releases, oh, and super long press releases that don't say anything.
I guess it was too good to be true that Pat took over entirely.
Pat should just run his own tournament, and call it the "American Open" and charge 1k per head, limited to 132 players, and build it back up. I'd bet he would fill it in 3 years time, and have the added money the same as it was before in 3 years time.
You missed:
1. 80 min ceremony on final day while players go cold
2. Niece of Third Cousin sings National Anthem while brother taps and doves (really pigeons) are released and poop on table
3. Followed by cheap champagne and 60 minute tribute to Barry
I guess not making money for the effort put into it wouldn't have much to do with it.
