Rack your own
Your opponent checks the rack....
...then he chooses which side you break from
Is it not possible to "rig" a rack so that breaking from either side is advantageous to the breaker?

I would think that would be pretty blatant....a re-rack could still be requested.
Sounds like the kid's solution to sharing, one kid cuts the item in half, other one picks the piece they want.
Racking for pool professionals and 8 year olds sharing cake, it's the same thing LOL
My solution is to put the one ball at the back of the rack and force the breaker to kick at the one ball.
Apparently, depending on where the gaps are located or which way the rack may be slightly twisted, those who have figured it out will have an advantage breaking from one side, but that advantage may be lost if they are then required by their opponent to break from the opposite side. Yes, you are correct in that those smart enough to have figured out how to break successfully from either side after racking them a certain way, this rule wouldn't help.Is it not possible to "rig" a rack so that breaking from either side is advantageous to the breaker?

It's how bandits split the loot also...the one who divvies is the last to pick.
...makes sense in the gambling world.
