Pro Event

GYK has proven over and over how that would go-depending on your definition of what 'really solid' is of course. There is a psychological factor also where it might take a while for some of the ladies to feel confident and comfortable playing men and thus start winning vs the ones they are 'supposed' to beat.

I hate to bring up GYK all the time but i know her and her game pretty well. She lost to Allison the first TEN (yeah sorry it is such a round number but that is what it was) times she played Allison- After she got her first win I'd say it was 70-30 percentage in her favor after that.

I think the women would do far better than many think. But if they go head to head with the top men it won't prove anything in my opinion. Most male players would lose too. So if it was the top women against the lower end men AKA short stops, I think it would be eye opening...

I agree with the suggestions above to start from the FargoRate numbers. Here is a general procedure:

For each group that you want to include, for example top women, start with mostly the top-rated players, and add a few popular players somewhat out of the top ratings. Suppose you want 8 women in the event. I'd invite the top 5 plus three fan favorites. My list would be:

Invited women planning for 8 (country and FargoRate shown):

Siming Chen CHN 790
Sha Sha Liu CHN 774
Chieh Yu Chou TWN 767
Xiao-Fang Fu CHN 764
Han Yu CHN 764
Chezka Centeno PHI 756
Jasmin Ouschan AUT 731
Karen Corr IRL 722

Be ready with some additional names of each kind if some invitations are declined. Ask for a quick commitment on the invitations so you can get the second round of invitations out.

i hope this does not cancel the tournament but I have solid information that Measureman will not be playing.

Good luck anyway.

fargorate

Tk"s Bob that was very helpful , I would still like more Fan input !

If you go by fargorate for US Players I am at 740 and will restate my interest in learning more about this event. I would be happy to represent those of us who work full time and have a family but drill hard in their basement and fight their hardest despite the disadvantage we are at facing full time touring players. Last name Jelatis here. Thank you.

The fans want to see the best players in the world. You need to start getting the event together now or it will wind up as a mostly shortstop event. Even if you start today, it's going to be quite difficult.

WPA sanctioning would probably be necessary to get the top Players to come to it and that is costly. Getting a tourny sanctioned only 4-5 months out may not even be possible-I don't know. Perhaps Bob does.

One more thing. Invite Efren regardless of his ranking.

In general the major cost in getting a WPA sanction is the added money required to meet the level of sanctioning you want. The sanctioning fee is a negotiated fraction of the added money, around 8%. Here is the WPA web page about sanctioning:

http://wpapool.com/tournament-sanctioning/

For a real major event, the sanctioning fee is going to be way less than the cost of the seating. That assumes you don't run your event in Jim's Bar, Grill, and Pool Room. (Not that there's anything wrong with Jim's. The burgers are awesome.)
