Hurricane Florence Is The Real Deal Of a Storm.

For all the Azers residing on the eastern seaboard, I hope that you are spared the
full force of Hurricaine Florence which is imminent. It is genuine monster storm and
poses life threatening scenarios based upon where you reside. Massive evacuation
orders have been issued and this is not a time to adopt a stalwart, pioneer attitude
thinking you can tough it out and not get out before it's too late.

Grab your cues and most sentimental items and get out if you live in the evacuation
areas. Most property can be replaced and that which can't, well, it can always be
remembered fondly, But you have to still be alive to have a memory so take this storm
seriously. 29 years ago Hurricanine Hugo reshaped the coastline from its ferocity and
Hurricaine Florence promises to be just as big and bad so please be smart and prudent.

Hell is coming. We have family and friends in the crosshairs. Hopefully they get through this ok. Scary gets scarier... might have nothin to return to. Survive and start again I guess.

I have been bothered for days about the fact that I have a big bike event scheduled for Saturday, in richmond, va.

I am trying to maintain a bit of perspective...I am whining about a bike ride and people's lives are about to get tossed into a blendrr.

Stay safe, azbros

Perspective is right

I live in SC. I don't think my area will be hit that bad. But I did tell my friends who lived on the coast they were more than welcome to come stay with me.

I was living in Charlotte when HUGO came though. It was rough and this one promises to be pretty bad too.

I live in Chapel Hill and have been very busy preparing for the mess soon to come. I will lose power due to the fact I am in an old neighborhood with a spectacular old growth forest around me. We have owls, hawks, deer, bats and all sorts of wildlife here. Big lots and lots of space.

My big concern is the big trees possibly coming down and slicing the house in half. SO the plan is to see how it gets and bug out to Asheville if necessary. The cars are all fueled up and my neighbors are all hunkering down so we'll see how it goes.

It's almost impossible to get bottled water or gas at any of the local places. Already sold out, but we are loaded up with all the supplies necessary for a few days or more. At least it's summer and not winter. Once during a bad ice storm we lost power for 7 days. Apparently we are low on the totem pole when it comes to repairing services.

I was out in a hurricane once on George's Banks 350 miles out to sea in a 60ft swordfish boat fighting 40ft seas. We got blown out into deep water off to the east of George's Banks over 10,000 feet deep before the storm let us go. That was scary this seems like we can just drive away if we feel the need..

I am very happy not to be closer to the coast, they are going to get hammered. Anyone there should be on the road now!

Anyway time will tell it always does......

The Real Deal

My buddy left VA. yesterday... he said people are getting the message and getting the f**k out.. both sides of the freeway going in one direction.

This thing is like 500 miles across, supposed to dump three FEET of rain.

Be safe, AZ'rs.

You posted this yesterday before the models started to show Florence taking a turn south after hitting the coast. So unless you haven't figured it out already staying put in Chapel Hill would be a much better plan than escaping to Asheville, which currently lies in the predicted path of the storm. I'm in the Raleigh area so I'll be staying put. At least that's what the models show now. Things can change.

As for looking for gas, download the GasBuddy app to see in real-time what stations around you have gas. Top off every chance you get. That's what we've been doing to both of our vehicles the past two days.

Stay safe everyone.

When I got up this morning I was stunned to see the change of direction. Good for us here in NC. Not good for the folks in SC.

We are staying right here. Today I went to Sanford and visited Jimmy at Speakeasy. Had not seen him in over ten years. Real happy he has opened up again!

having been thru hurricane andrew in miami

any azers in harms way please evacuate and be safe
wish you all the best of luck

My daughter is in Chapel Hill and she was trying to decide whether or not to come back here (Outer Banks) or stay. We told her to stay as it would probably be safer.

We are staying here and by the looks now...everything should be fine.

Yeah, looks like the Carolinas are gonna get it, there are homes that are right on the beaches there.. storm surge alone is gonna be bad. Godspeed evryone.

Hope everyone in Florence's path got to safety. It's pathway has changed direction a bit which might help some.

Thoughts and Prayers for any and all members, family and friends in potential danger as she rolls ashore.

-Kat,

The Northern beaches of the Outer Banks made out very well. Still having some heavy wind gusts but all is well.

The southern beaches in Rodanthe and Hatteras took some flooding but for the most people...all is well.

Further south in New Bern and Wilmington is getting hit pretty hard.

based on what i see on TV-I've seen many worse but if it just sits there i guess flooding will be outrageous.

I can tell you that you should NEVER base ANYTHING you see on tv as a true media account.

I have been on the beach sunbathing and my family has called asking us if we are leaving and we have told them...TURN OFF THE WEATHER CHANNEL.

They are blowing this shit up...THIS IS NOTHING HAPPENING HERE.

The weather channel has cost us more revenue than done good. Screw all of them.
