Question for the more experienced:

I've been doing tips and shaft repairs for a few years, now. Recently received a request for a G10 tip on a break cue shaft. What's the best glue for that? I use Loctite UltraGel for everything; will that also work on G10?

This is what I use, and recommend, but, what is the ferrule material? If it's a Chinese import, then you may need to change the type of glue, as they tend to use High temp plastics that do not bond well with the normal CA glues we use. If it is, I use Loctite all plastics CA with activator....https://www.homedepot.com/p/Loctite-2g-Plastics-Bonding-System-681925/100371829
It works well, but seems to have a short use life once the bottle is opened...but for the price....cheaper than replacing ferrules all time
Hope this helps,
Dave

Isn't G10 a epoxy material (as opposed to phenolic, a different polymer) ?

Dave

Resin with crushed glass. Still has some linen but the resin has glass powder.
Crushed glass is actually available as filler for epoxy if you want the hardest additive .
Some psycho use them in the A-joint for strength and ping.

I have had 100% success using the JB Weld SuperWeld CA glue for gluing G-10,as well as the common Loctite Rearview Mirror Adhesive, which is a 2 part CA.

While I haven't tried it with every ferrule material, any of the 3 phenolics or melamines I've tried work with G-10 every time for either a J/B tip or as a pad.

Before that,I used JB Weld ClearWeld epoxy, and left it in the lathe with the tailstock in place overnight.

All 3 of these glues I have recommended here also worked for phenolic/melamines and adding a White Diamond tip. I've even used the Loctite RMA for a J/B tip I made for my own jump cue out of a white melamine ferrule rod piece and it's lasted 4 years now. Tommy D.
