Cuetec announces Carbon Fiber tentative price and....

Relax Dave. I really hope we haven't hit PC insanity on AZ. Great info. as always.
I am relaxed. I have just learned to be more aware of this sort of thing being a university professor around smart, young, and diverse students with strong opinions and sensitivities. [I probably should have been a little more aware when I was producing the video. :embarrassed2:]

Regardless, I still like the phrase ("Once you go black, you won't go back") applied to carbon fiber shafts. Sometimes, phrases need to be reclaimed and re-purposed so the old inappropriate connotations don't have institutional memory anymore.

Catch you later,
Dave

I tried a Revo at SBE2017 and did not like the feel or sound of it. Last week, I tried the R12.4 and had the same reaction: I just don't like it and would never consider playing with it.

Then I tried the R12.9 and *immediately* fell in love. I love the way it feels and I love the way it hits. I have no science or objective evidence, but I really want one now. If they ever become available for purchase again, I'll be first in line.

My point is that this is about personal preference: play with what you like, and don't over analyze it.

It is pretty funny that many of the same people who complain about the price of CF shafts have no problem with wooden cues going for many thousands of dollars based on inlay work in the butt that is purely aesthetic and has no impact on play.

At least now it's settled, the Revo is the best and most low deflection shaft on the planet.

I would like to correct you - Revo is the best and most low deflection shaft on the planet that Dr.Dave has put into that comparison vid ;)

I would like to see the same comparison wit the new Becue… Hook him up with one!!!

You got my point exactly, in few days I will recieve the final version of Prime-M shaft both in 12mm and 12.5mm (the design of the shaft is so damn awesome but I am not at freedom to show the pics yet) And from my experience with Prime-M prototype (and knowing the retail price:D) I can tell that Becue will make some people scratch their heads because they will feel that they rushed their buy of cf shaft:D Some brands compete with being the first on the market with perfect marketing, some brands compete with very good price, some brands compete with superior quality and performance...and some can combine these qualities together somehow ;) All in all good times for those who like the hit of carbon :D

If the BeCue CF shaft is as slick and as low defection as the Revo, I would certainly consider buying one. Painting their shafts was a fatal flaw in my opinion. But it's encouraging if they realized their huge error and come out with an improved shaft with no paint and hopefully a super slick coating.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. They said they were going to announce it a week or two ago, but they haven't yet. I thought I saw someone say that it would have a ferrule like the cuetec - do you know if that's true? I don't believe the prototypes had ferrules.

I think it's possible that it could have as low or lower deflection than the Revo, if only because it has a narrower shaft, and narrower shafts tend to have lower deflection. But I don't know what else goes into lowering the deflection with one of the carbon composite shafts, so who knows. The ceutec is about the same diameter as the Revo but seems to have higher deflection. Maybe the ferrule does add enough weight to change that.

Yes, Becue has learnt their lesson with the paint the hard way :embarrassed2: On the other hand Prime-M is without the paint, basically the same carbon slickness as Revo ;)

I can say that Prime-M will have a ferrule different from Revo but also different from Cuetec  Thats all I can say atm ;) And yes, you are somewhat well informed - the prototype really didnt have a bright-coloured ferrule, it had a dark ferrule. And I told Becue guys that it was something that could be improved as many players using Revo mentioned the absence of bright-coloured ferrule as a disadvantage to their aiming. And my relationship with Becue indeed gives me a chance to influence the final product as Becue guys really listen to what I say. And the final version of Prime-M reflects that ;) Stay tuned:grin-devilish:

Thanks for that info... looking forward to seeing the new Prime-M shaft...

Whatever reduces the "endmass" (lighter ferrule, hollow shaft, smaller diameter, thinner hollow shaft wall, etc.) reduces CB deflection. "Endmass" is also affected by the lateral stiffness of the end of the shaft. For more info, see: endmass and stiffness effects.

Dave

I agree!!!!

One step further, I will NOT believe a review/comparison by a sponsored player, a rep, a dealer or the like.

I would however, believe a comparison review by Dr. Dave.

I will believe neutral parties only. All others will avoided like a plaque.

If becue is smart, they would get a prime shaft in your possession to test.

Az members trust your word before most ANY dealer, sponsored person etc...

Just out of curiosity - would you say this to SVB face to face in regards to Cuetec? Because you are basically saying that a person is less trustworthy based on the fact that he is sponsored. You know..some people are very hard to corrupt as they value their integrity as n.1 comodity. Just saying....
