Match fixing

Match fixing in billiards, it happens in snooker. Would it pay for players that have the backing to just buy their match or even sell it?

With the tournament world in constant chaos, everyone under stress from finances would an inexperienced player know what to do if approached?

Some people are fortunate that finances aren't a huge burden. But for others its a real mystery how some players can afford to be on the road. Some of those players are too young to even understand the trouble they can get into. The lure of prize money and the confidence of backers can be a deadly combination for young players looking to make it big quick.

I love hearing about the international array of cultures coming together. Believing in wealthy individuals that can afford big losses is not good practice. I've seen some new and very young players at tournaments from US and the world. It could be foolish for me to think about their life, because they are making the choices. Players policing themselves, its a silly idea. I am likely imagining problems that aren't worth considering.

Who else has endless mindnumbing commentary

I remember Mike Lebron winning a big tournament in Vegas. His opponent in the final had to drive balls in the rail in order to let him win.
Now go ahead and wonder why no big sponsors want to be involved in pool.

It happens. A lot more than people think.

In the short-lived IPT, being a round robin format - there was rampant match dumping, deal-making and the such.

Happens in standard formats too.

Some pool promoters are not the brightest people. If you want to guarantee a fixed match - create a winner-takes-all tournament, or a very top heavy first place prize.

Yeah except for being discussed ad nauseam on here in every single "what's wrong with pool" thread.

Reminds me of gossip around small towns and the “did you hear what no ones talking about” ....the irony
