I live in St. Louis — so it’s not just a matter of a $50 ticket.

There is also the issue of timing because the viewings are one off affairs. So, though I do make it out to Southern California a couple of times a year the odds are the video and my availability are not going to sync up.

And, I don’t believe anyone has confirmed it is unedited video that’s being shown. Even if it is, there’s no way anyone could sit through the whole run at a single viewing. So you’d want stop (and rewind and slow motion replay) available.

So no, it’s not just about “a small fee.”

The catch is that showing people a video they don't know if is edited or not proves nothing either way. Releasing a supposedly unedited video that other people could actually run continuity tests on would answer the question for most people. As I have mentioned, I think the video was shot from a fairly low angle so john's body is likely to have blocked some shots. Still, I think release of an unedited video showing a 626 would satisfy even most of his comparatively few detractors.

No fan of john's but I accepted that he had ran the balls when it first happened. As time drags on and we don't hear anyone like Guinness accepting the record it is cause to wonder. The few people viewing it at the BCA are unlikely to be anymore video savvy than most of us. Guinness no doubt can test video but only if they have a copy to work with.

Someone could show us a cow jumping over the moon and nobody in the room be able to spot a flaw other than the obvious impossibility of the feat, the video would look great.

At this point I have came to believe it is highly unlikely an unedited video will ever be released. Without it, the 626 will pass into the realm of myth and legend. Maybe true, maybe not.

why not contact john months ahead your visits and see what can be arranged?

someone witnesses a partial practice run, oh you actually ran much more than i saw, ok

a vid is available to view but it needs a molecular dissection

Becauuuuuse, I want to watch the video at my leisure, on a screen of my choosing, stopping and rewinding it when and as often as I want.

And, if I come to any conclusions about the run that I want to share, I want to be able to back them up with specific time stamps from the video to document evidence for what I’ve concluded. All of that is only going to happen when I, and others, have a copy of unedited video of the run and that’s probably never going to happen.

Frankly, the longer that does not happen — public release of unedited video — the more I’m inclined to believe there is a problem (or problems) with the run because at this point the whole thing about monetizing it is a joke.

Can you elaborate on why johns desire to profit is any more of a joke now?

I'll agree it was a pipe dream, but dont see the elapsed time decreasing his dream.

And about the elapsed time, has it really been that long? I don't think it has...it isn't prime time tv, yuhknow?

As has oft been said here: if he wanted to make money off the run he should have struck while the iron was hot.

IOWs right after the run. That’s Marketing 101. Now, interest has fizzled so it is highly unlikely monetizing it to any significant extent is now unlikely.

You'll get no disagreement from me, if you'll admit there was likely no significant monetary reward to begin with.

I am not saying he's making a good decision to hold it close, but I do know that once he surrenders it to the world in any means he doesn't control, all hopes of a payday pretty much evaporate.

Well, I think he could have made some good money if he had released it right away.

It would never have been enough to retire on but it could have sold a few thousand at $50 a pop. Now, I’m not so sure he’d sell a few hundred. Whatever the potential was it has to be way less now.

I woulda capped it at 20k, but was more thinking a single buyer would get it.

No, I am saying just the opposite. If a vid is released, it can be verified it hasn't been edited. Showing people video proves nothing. Editing software to fill in gaps was available decades ago. However, the release of a video that was supposed to be unedited could quickly be verified or discredited as far as editing.

Yes this is correct, or in other words they are hiding it from the geek squad. Fake news bout 14.1 - could surface once their tapo has been cross examined. As i stated before Kipchoge had greased the skids, lasers for his feet, and wind blockers - but he truly did want the World to see the two hr barrier surpassed - charlie bca and john would rather try and make the claim and then hide the evidence from the standard chain of public verification - then also include Mosconi in their debacle - RODENTS. I think the reason for the private viewing and (nda) is cause they know there is a problem with the tape - or else seeing an un edited copy of the so called footage would not be such a daunting task. Fatboy is also right they have a secret - they want to sell us - but would rather not show the books - is dragon promotions trying to sell their company? Either way I ain't buying their fakebook news for one minute, again I am from the Show Me state - if i ran 626 it would have been available for the public to see -soon after - ten months later still no solid evidence there is not a doctored tape behind their theatrical production.
I would not have wanted to pull some sort of hustle where they had to come to my hometown to see my version of sum footage i.e. smoky mirrored production - that is not the way to promote 14.1 records - they own their claim - but most would agree there's a problem with the way they have struggled to market it.

There is a non disclosure agreement people have to sign to watch john and charlie theatrical production - u do not find that a bit odd? I do not want to stop anyone from posting anything - except possible fake news as it pertains to Straight Pool - does this make me the bad guy here - is that what yer trying to say? I post under my real name - as I have no hidden tape - comprendo? Not really sure what u mean by connected vs unconnected either, wow u social media people are kinda funny to me. If yer trying to defend the fact they wont show the tape to proper inspectors - yer in over yer head. I have made way more $ with my 351 than john ever will - with the way he chose to market this phony claim. If u really want to learn 14.1 - I can send u a copy of un edited un tainted 25 racks - without a miss. no worries on if the tape has been doctored on my 351 it is legit - also the table was not modified either. Be careful how u respond will determine how much denaro you'll have to pay for a legit copy. u see the good guys don't hide behind smoky mirrors and non disclosure agreements.
