So, how much did he lose ?

That's a cute story. You have tons of unverifiable "stories". Tell us the one about how everyone in LA was scared to play you again?

I always loved that one. Especially part two where the LA people spoke up and told a very different version of the story. All a matter of perspective I suppose but the bottom line is that somehow you couldn't/wouldn't play anyone there despite you claiming that you were looking action and them sitting there every day waiting for action.

And tell us the story of you getting barred from the classic iconic pool room Cue and Cushion. What's your version of that again. Please tell us that one.

If you will not believe one story you will not believe another so why bother?

I'm not a one-pocket expert but I'm eating dinner and can spare some before I go back to making dust.
There are a ton of one-holers here that would have shot holes through Lou like Chow Yun Fat in a John Woo movie. :D
Wayne, who I didn't know until he beat Morro at Shooters in a big tournament, would have shot holes through Lou. Even at 9-7, I don't think would have liked it .
Plenty of one-holers in LA looking for action back in the 90's and 2000's.
From Hard Times to Hollywood to the valleys.
Late.

Tons of good players in LA to include Wayne and Richie.

That's why i said right or wrong (legally) genius. I know more about the law than you do. Not 1% have gone to jail for petty theft in 30 years unless they were a 3 time felony loser at minimum. I have no record. Id be home before you if you had the balls to go through with it after i threw the receipt at you. I know, Assault!!

Well, the last guy who tried to steal a case from us got 86ed from the casino. Honestly I would not care if you went to jail or not but you damned sure wouldn't be taking a case off my wall without serious confrontation just because you claimed a debt.

What would likely to be a 100% chance of happening is that you would come to my booth and state the situation and we would make it right if in fact we were in the wrong. I have seen tons of keyboard warriors on here who said they would do something if they saw me in person and when they did they were meek and polite and we got along fine. I have no reason to think you would not be different but on the tiny chance that you are you would be talking to the police or the casino security before you got out of the building.

I don't have to believe them to be entertained. LIke I said you're a great story teller. And even when someone disputes your version yours is still entertaining.

John, how did that assault case against you turn out?

Thanks!

I’ll consider that for a blurb for my book.

If I wanted, if I cared to play, if wa, wa, wa.

Lou Figueroa

Yeah because you need me to play. You already said that I could come to STL so unless you're backing out of that it's my choice to play or not.

So yeah, I have played about 30,000 dollars of one pocket since I played you and traveled to California and Tennessee to play one pocket. I have matched up with players better than you even and lost so yeah, not scared of you just tired of you.

John, how did that assault case against you turn out?

Lou Figueroa

There was no assault case against me. There was an accusation that was dismissed for lack of any physical evidence and an unbelieved "story" from the accuser. He should have taken storytelling lessons from you.

oh, OK.

I heard that the problem was that the venue (casino?) wouldn’t release the security tape. Not like you ever threatened to get violent with anyone like with Eric at Sandcastle.

So I'm at a tournament at Hard Times and Wayne comes up to me and says "have you seen what that guy Lou said about going to Santa Monica looking for a one pocket game?" I said no, I didn't even know who Lou was. He was really steamed and went on complaining about what Lou had said.

Wayne would have given his left nut to play Lou. Wayne is a straight up guy with money, more of like a businessman with money who plays strong, smart pool. Wayne is a straight shooter, 100% trust worthy. After reading the account, I am pretty sure it happened like Lou said, that he went there and wasn't able to find a game. But I don't think he was looking too hard. As far as one pocket goes, that place was a den of thieves at the time. But they didn't like 9 ball and didn't like strangers.

This is all from vague recollections. I honestly thought it was like a ladies soap opera, not far off from what we are experiencing here.

It’s a tough room and I only went in to play in the afternoons when I’d fly out to visit my Mom and had a few hours to kill.

Just didn’t have any luck matching up. In any case, my Mom is out towards Ventura now so I don’t go to SM anymore.

Gosh this is great.

I can’t determine which is more fun-

Watching Lou enjoy cocktails in his retirement home under JB’s skin

Or

All the holy rollers with the “he’s worse than him” opinions.

It’s really great stuff-

We've suffered through a thousand episodes of this bullshit, the 'I Love Lucy" show of internet billiards.

To be honest, I never really wanted to play you.

And $10k was way out of my comfort zone but I was finally persuaded to play.

Lou Figueroa

To be honest, you are rarely, if ever honest. I offered to play you for $1000, for pride, for fun, for whatever. I went out of my way to accomodate you. I know you were "persuaded" to play because as I said many times your poolroom demeanor is best described by those who know you far better than me as a nit.

When we finally did play in a little RSB tournament I beat you in a match 2;1 if I remember correctly. At Large will likely correct me. A nothing tournament and mostly a nothing result except that it had a little meaning to me. But I didn't brag about it or taunt you UNTIL many years later when you decided to start attacking me. And why did you attack me?

Because I stood up for Hal Houle and Stan Shuffett. Even though I did not denigrate you and was continuing to stick to the agreement when you and I made up at Derby you could not stand that I was not allowing you to denigrate Hal and Stan without speaking up. So you turned your focus on me and started in again with the insults. "pays his people in fish heads" type of remarks from you. That's what started the next round of woofing and even then you ducked and ducked and ducked. Only when an "angel" backer showed up with a plan did you FINALLY agree to play. And I didn't back down, I said ok and even though the ensuing negotiation was horrible to go through with you being so obstinate and absurd, like wanting to make it PPV and get a cut of the gate, demanding the table type, refusing to play on stream etc.... we ended up with an agreement.

That's how we ended up playing. Not because you had the heart to play but because you got a free roll.

And when offered to play again for much more you declined. That's the honest and undeniable truth. It is all on record here and in the RSB archives.

You should consider therapy.

Lou Figueroa
wow

I rarely play for more than $10 a game anymore.

Used to be in action for $200 sets every night but not anymore.

Lou Figueroa

I could see it a mile away, it's like you are more than salting the wounds, your injecting drug fast strains of bacteria into the site of the trauma.

This is not very conducive in setting up a rematch much less getting anybody to play you.

Even a surgeon has to have some bedside manner. Christ, how unprofessional of you.

You are exhibiting too much pride.

See, that's the problem when you "hear" things. The accuser had no physical marks on him despite claiming to have been headbutted. He refused a medical examination. The witnesses stated that they saw no physical altercation. The witness who was two feet away stated that there was no physical altercation. No charges were pressed and the police never even came to see me. I went to the police station unbidden and filed my report and when the detective called me about a month later she was dismissive of the accuser's "story" and simply asked me to tell my side which I did and that was the end of it.

Eric threatened me, not the other way around. I never once threatened him with any sort of physical violence. He, however flat out lied claiming I called him a chink and then said his wife asked him what that meant. In my opinion that's likely to be two lies, one I know for sure because I never would use that word against someone and the other because even though I doubt very much that an adult married to an asian man didn't know that chink is a slur used against asians I am positive she wouldn't have asked about it because it wasn't said by me in the first place. And in that instance there were two witnesses to the whole scene. They were there because I told them I was going to call Eric out in person to play a money match and I did. That's when he threatened to beat me up in the parking lot. That was only one of the times he threatened me.

So that's the ACTUAL record of events. Thanks for asking.

I believe you. You never know who's going to be in there. It doesn't help that you bear a slight resemblance to a younger Danny DiLiberto.
