Who's your TOP 5?

If you could build your own "Dream Team" who would make the cut?

They do not have to be the "best" or "greatest" players of all-time, maybe they're just five of your favorites...

If you could choose any five pool/billiard players that have ever lived, during their primes, who would you place on your roster? You're also welcome to share your reasoning for your choices.

1) Me, for obvious reasons
2) Travis Trotter because he beats Randy Goettlicher at 9-Ball
3) iusedtoberich for all those difficult runouts that he posts
4) Allison Fisher because she used to play with her Cuetec Cue
5) Earl Strickland because he used to play with his Cuetec Cue

1) Black Balled, because he State Champ
2) Black Balled, for all them witty posts
3) Black Balled, because he busts CoCo balls
4) Black Balled, he a generous man
5) Black Balled, because I hear he makes great white bread toast

That's a tough one. After I add myself, Vince Lauria, and Dead Money I've only got two spots left. :)

In reality I'd go with:

Allison Fisher
Strickland
Willie Hoppe
Efren
Cornbred Red

It's really hard to not have Deuel or Archer on that list but it's even harder to remove someone.

On a serious note.......when I took the hobby up in 1998 it was basically all 9-Ball. So thats always been my game. My Top 5 would be:

Allison Fisher
Nick Varner
Buddy Hall
Efren Reyes
Earl Strickland - who edges out Johnny Archer

I love that you listed Cornbread Red.
It was a pleasure watching him play and learning from him.

I read his book a few years ago and just thought he would be a blast to hang with.

Did you grow up in Detroit?
That's great.
Yes, I did. If anyone had a story to tell, it was Mr. Burge. My father knew him much better than I and he knew my father. I only had the privelege to meet him a few times, watch him play in his older years and learn what I could from him.

Where would FIller go on your list? Just curious. I like your 5 for modern players but think I would have Filler instead of Chang or Wu. No particular reason, I just like his style of play.
Wow, I completely forgot about him! Yikes. He'd bump someone off for sure. I'd say he'd bump off Wu.

So Shane, Filler, Ko, Ko, Chang. ps, I picked the modern players simply because I've seen them all play at their primes:) No other reason.

Yup, if you stick with the modern players, Filler should not only be in your top five, but in your top one.

Damn Stu, you know your pool players!! And Billiard players as well. (y)

My dream list of players that I most enjoyed watching play was;

1. Keith McCready
2. Louie Roberts
3. Cornbread Red
4. Jersey Red
5. Earl in his prime

Non stop entertainment with all of the above, with great pool thrown in!

Honorable Mention;

1. R.A. aka Ronnie Allen. To this day the most creative pool player I ever saw.
2. Harold Worst. The most impressive man with a cue I ever saw.
3. Jose Parica. He took on and beat all comers for decades! The little Killer!
4. Efren. Because he was fuc'n EFREN!
5. Fats. No one ever funnier!

Three others who I have to mention;

Eddie Kelly. Simply poetry in motion at the pool table.
Marvin Henderson. The sweetest looking stroke of all time.
Eddie Taylor. I'd rather watch him bank balls than eat steak.
