Viewing of John Schmidt's 626 straight pool run

I’m in Chicago western suburbs this week. It was shown at Qbar in Darian, IL. I believe they’re in Chris’s tonight in Chicago, and them Darian tomorrow.

Hi, Chris. There really should be nothing strange about it. They mixed in strategic non-voice sections for talking purposes, and had plenty of voice-over sections to keep this is an entertaining piece. High-speeding through a hundred balls or less solved keeping everyone entertained with no boring spots when the hosts already talked about everything under the sun. You certainly wouldn't high-speed in the 500's. Additionally, this is the section when John had really slowed down and tripled his time between shots. Again, for entertainment purposes, it feels like good strategy to high speed through that section. If they didn't high-speed play through there, I would have had a tough time having to get to work the next day.

It wasn't a bad decision at all for Jerry and John. It didn't take away anything. If there were some really cool shots in that span, we had plenty to ooh and aah about in the other 550 balls.
Fred, l understand, but any serious 14.1 lover would not find watching any part of this 626 record run video boring - at least that’s my opinion.

Is there any website showing a schedule?
I happened upon it when I saw post from John's wife. I think they're contacting pool halls a little on the fly meaning they add stops nearby when they've already firmed up a location. Maybe.

Just curious how many players or how much guaranteed $ he has to get before he will book a date? Roughly how many players do you think ponied up the $50 last night? Fred, I don’t think I remember hearing you mention that in your write up.

When committed to going a week earlier, there was only 1 person signed up. There were no talks of it not going forward. There were 9-10 of us in the end, not including Jerry or John.

I have no idea what your complaints are here Chris. Seriously. Jerry McWorter is a hundred ball runner and a professional entertainer. He made a strategic decision based on his experience and his expertise. His show, his call.I found it the right call.

Not one person in attendance whispered anything like they wished they saw those 82 balls in regular speed. This is a total non-problem.

Sounds like nobody is making much $, at least for this showing. Sadly, if we had a showing at our room for $50 per person, we’d have one taker - myself.

Thanx for the revue, Freddy....It made me realize that I wouldn’t mind seeing it if it comes my way.
My first thought when he did it was that I would like to watch one hour at a time.

If we ever get past this COVID aggravation, I can see JS actually realizing a profit.

Fred, it’s not a big deal. It was just my initial thought when you explained it in your initial post. Just seems like if I’m paying to see this 4+ hour 626 ball run, that’s the minimum amount of time I’m expecting to be viewing it.

I understand that most (even those paying $50) wouldn’t have the patience or the attention span to do that, but considering the significance of this feat, I would hope that I could. Obviously a few intermissions would be necessary.

Of course they would not.

This was for entertainment, not certification. It's sounds like you had a good time -- that was what this was about.

I can’t believe these appearance dates aren’t being routinely posted on the AzB site (would seem like a ‘no brainer’). Whatever.
The Darian Qbar website doesn’t mention the Sat. night showing, and states it is currently closed to the public, though I think some Chgo. suburbs have recently had the Governor’ s indoor dinning ban suspended (?). I would certainly love to attend, and might show up wearing 3 masks, but the new super-infectious Covid strain makes me leery re: crowds. Were all reasonable precautions being adhered to at last night’s presentation? Were the billiard tables open to attendees for play after the show?

No kidding.

Right about now you couldn't pay me enough to sit in a room with 50 other people for four+ hours.

I'm just glad he's starting to roll out the viewing parties. I do hope that after he's done with the tour he will offer the run either on DVD or stream-able in some way. I'd like to watch it but I doubt there will be any viewing parties in my neck of the woods.

Most passionate 14.1 players like myself would pay way more $ and get much more benefit from a 2 hour 1-on-1 14.1 lesson from JS than watching a video of his 4-1/2 hour record run.

Oh come on!!!
LOL. Like all the work I did coz of the ACA that went straight to the shredder. But for free!
Hahahahh
American Correctional Association?
American Camp Association?
American Canine Association?
American Counseling Association?
American Chiropractic Association?

(that took some research)

[or do you mean the Affordable Care Act?]

I think there would be a market for the raw video, but also for the video with his commentary.
