Barry Hearn, the founder of Matchroom, has stepped aside as Chairman. His son Eddie will move into that position. Barry will still have an advisory and development role as President of the Group. Barry is a member of the BCA Hall of Fame for his promotion of cue sports.

Barry is a class act.
I hope someday his company, Matchroom, can do for pool what he has done for snooker.
 
I wonder Barry stepping down and Eddie taking over will slow down and reduce promotion of cue sports something Barry is passionate about. After all, pool and snooker contribute peanuts revenue to whole Matchroom portfolio.

eddie is a boxing guy, that's about all i know of him. let's hope he is as passionate about cue sports as his father. either way they have a very capable pool general in emily f.
 
Barry's comment in the interview that his management team has shown its quality during the pandemic is certainly accurate with respect to pool.

For my money, Emily Frazer has already worked two miracles.

1) When Alexandra Palace was closed for safety reasons, Emily, working closely with the British government, found a way to save the Mosconi Cup by setting up something like a bubble in the Milton Keynes arena. This saved the event and put $225,000 in the pockets of ten players who had largely been denied an opportunity to earn a living in the pandemic year.

2) The conception of a new pool event during the pandemic seemed, at best, a longshot, but Emily found a way to stage a new event with $85,000 added despite the difficulty of doing so.

What is the other streaming service that I keep confusing with Matchroom?
I've had problems with one called Match something or another.
I could be confused all the way around, too many licks to the head and 50+ years of weed ain't helping.

In the US I think the only official streams of Matchroom events are on DAZN and matchroom.live.
