Fixing the game of 9 ball.

Through the years I’ve found that people generally don’t dive too deep for answers to stupid questions. Especially when it’s trying to fix something that isn’t broken. As you’ve said, pool just needs sponsors. And it will always be streamed. So what we need is more sponsors and more streams? WTF does your whacked break idea do to help achieve either of these goals? Answer- nothing.
I agree sponsors want to know the market is there and willing to spend.

However I think the larger problem is pool is not visible in the mainstream.

Remaking a game and the rules is for players, making new players is a community problem.

Sponsors don't want to solve the community problems, they just want to provide a service/product that fans can support and enjoy.

What do you want the pool market to look like? Based on my projections number of pool rooms will continue to decrease, number of pool tournaments on decrease, the few people that are making pool events are the only ones worth supporting.

I should know better than discussing anything on AZB, but that's ok, because I'd have a better discussion on a children's playground in the park than I do here!!

I don’t want to hear about your conversations with children on the playground, but as far as this conversation goes maybe they will think something is broken just because you say it is. In reality we have more pool at our fingertips to watch online than ever. And the quality just keeps getting better and better. What more do you want?

Separation between the Pros who belong, from those who don't. I want a set of Pro rules to play by, and if amateurs want to play against the Pros, they play by the same rules, no more handicapping the Pros just to get the amateurs to put in their entry fees needed to build the prize fund!!!

I want the Pros earning a living, not entertaining the amateurs like they've on the same level playing field! No short races, all Pros seeded, races to 21, single elimination, 3 hr match time limits!

I want the Pros to have to work for their win in 9B, not just break and run out the same pattern over and over. I like the run outs in 9B as much as anyone else does, but l like seeing the Pros have to work to win the match too!

And I DON'T like the use of jump cues, if a player has to make a jump shot, then they should be required to use their PLAYERS cue, unmodified to do so!!!

I like the magic rack for 10B, but I DON'T for 9B. So, the modified 9B rack turns the 9B break into an even harder 10B break, which means both players get more time at the table instead of one player breaking and running while the other player is sitting down awaiting their turn. And no, I DON'T like alternating breaks either. I DON'T like break boxes either, or racking the 9B on the spot.

All the rule changes to 9B have been made to support TV time slots, which DON'T exist anymore, and to keep the amateurs paying their entry fees so the damn ring game can continue, because without the amateurs money, there is NO sport of pool!!!

I think it's a lost cause. Trying to convince the public that pool is a "sport" won't be easy.

Pool WON'T be fixed until the Pros can play in events that DON'T require entry fees to build the prize fund so they can win some scrap money and call that a living!!!

When sponsorship comes on board, do you really think they're interested in supporting amateur players as the highlight of the events their money is being paid out to???

It'll NEVER be a sport until there's a separation between the Pros and the amateurs.

Then, and only then can top player salaries be talked about, as well as major player endorsement contracts. Once this level has been achieved, then it's a real SPORT!!!

Only difference is, Earl would prefer it to dead quite while he's shooting, I'd rather listen to the crowd yelling! The difference is you won't get distracted with the crowd cheering, not like you do the second someone coughs or sneezing in the background. THEN Earl wouldn't blame someone for sharking him while he's shooting!!!

If that happens, why would I need to check back with for anything, your approval?
You asked me a question. I told you I needed to see it first in order to answer, mainly because I don't see it ever happening. If you have you have changed your mind about wanting an answer or forgotten how this started then just drop it.

It's not about what you see, or what anyone else sees. It's about It's working, or it's not. It's more about whether or not you believe the sport of pool can be fixed if it's organized and sponsored, or can't be organized and sponsored. I've heard all the "CAN'TS" about fixing pool for years on end. What I have FAILED to hear from ANYONE is how can we get it organized and sponsored, so it can be a real sport!! If you think Matchroom is the answer, then you have no idea what the difference is between a promoter and a sponsored organization is, they're NOT the same.

Stop telling me I can't do something, and tell me how I CAN instead!!!

The problem with 9 ball is everybody is trying to fix it instead of just playing and enjoying it. As far as making it a highly viewed game, your not going to get people to watch something that doesn’t interest them.

There’s a reason I don’t watch cooking shows and no matter what they do or who sponsors them I’m still not going to watch.
