2021 World Snooker Championship

and then the wheels came off. Wow Murphy was totally unplayable. Losing 10-4 and winning 13 out of the next 15 frames is just incredible. 99% pot success in the evening session (100% long pot success). Haven’t seen Shaun playing this good for a long long time

i have never seen him play this good as today, including the 2005 win. just amazing. middle of the pocket all the time. hats off..

my last hope is bingham though. still possible

I got mixed feelings about this win...I was for Murphy, but it seems almost everybody was...one guy had a small bet for Selby to win it all from the start....and he ended up cheering for Murphy also.
Selby is good to bet on...what a good horse...but not as an exhibition player.

Too bad. Selby games are unwatchable IMO. Somehow he is more and more like Ebdon and even he is strong player i just can´t enjoy watching snooker when Selby is playing. have to check news who won aterwards.

he snipes comments too, everyone i know that watched him live says the same, between frames he spits snipey comments on luck etc. in this match he fained a heart attack when he had a fluke, referring to binghams "ball run". plus the dragging out of frames in absurdum, needing five snookers. it's gamesmanship.

Not to mention his fundamentals! Watching the guy play makes me seasick lol. He’s swaying in all directions when down on the shot. An absolute mystery how he keeps potting them balls!

yea i said when he had made his breakthrough that his fundamentals wouldn't age well. he's so concentrated that his head and neck trembles when he shoots +the lateral movement. i was wrong

I must be in the minority. I love watching Selby play.

Hoping for a close final, but my prediction...

Selby wins it 18-12

Ronnie O'Sullivan was saying in the build up on Eurosport that Selby just does what he has to do to win with his game. Tons of respect shown.

Me too. I don't hate him or even dislike him but his snarly attitude grates a little. That said, I love watching him play. I don't understand why any snooker fan wouldn't want to watch one of the greats of the game.

Because he slows down and drags out matches, the end justifies the means kinda guy. His gamesmanship is quite poor, too. Jabbing at Stuart for the run of the balls when he himself fluked three snookers in a row in the deciding frame is a bit disingenuous, to say the least.

I’m sure Frank Taberski was a great champion but watching him play was a torture

I have no problem with players slowing matches down. No problem either with talented players who play too fast despite it not being optimal. Couldn't agree more with you on the other point (and it's probably fair enough to say that Selby is a dick head by most reasonable people's definitions) but that doesn't make watching Selby boring. He is a great player, made even greater because he finds ways to beat players who are better than him.

Am I the only one experiencing lots of breaks in the broadcast? Watching on Matchroom.
Love the camera work and commentary.

He got 53 points in fouls from a single position. I don't think that's fair.

Although Wilson was the beneficiary of a similar situation in last year’s semifinal decider against McGill, so I don’t feel too sorry for him. At least I think it was him - the frame lasted so long I don’t remember.

I understand the rule where for example the player is refusing an easy path to a red because he is worried about leaving a ball on and so is deliberately trying a tougher escape to not sell out. But Ronnie and others have railed against the miss rule, particularly when there is no other way to hit it and the player is really trying his best. The rules allow the ref to not call a miss in those circumstances but they rarely seem to.

I watch on DAZN. When the host network goes to commercial, you get a break in the broadcast. Same thing when there is an interval - either the 15 minute mid-session one or end of session interval. If personally wish they gave us the studio analysis, but no dice.

I feel the same way....you might have to bet on him to appreciate what a good horse you got.
....and he has ten century runs so far.

Here's an interesting interview with Barry Hearn about the charity support, the players' performance level and the pandemic aspects of this year's World Championship:

I'm watching on DAZN and it has been mostly smooth. I did have a couple of login issues but smooth since. DAZN lets you go back to the start of the day, so I can catch up on the early frames.

I suspect that the number of viewers is larger than usual which may be causing issues.
