Bill "Weenie Beenie" Staton. Don't think we've seen this one before.

Yeah, remember seeing this before. I last saw Weenie in 1999 and I hadn't seen him since the late 1970s when Jimmy Fusco introduced us. I didn't recognize him and he didn't recognize me. He had a ton of personality.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

He was well hooked up with society/tv and production work. One of the few pool players of his era that had a job/business and a normal life away from the table. Very engaging man, with a wife that was just as incredible as himself. When I won in Palm Spgs in 89, he came out of the bleachers with his wife, introduced me too her and congratulated me for the win, first time we met was at Janscos in the late 60's/Johnston City IL. His wife by the way, was thee most gorgeous older woman that I've ever seen/with a Great smile.....prettier than any of the famous women actors of their era.
Nice write up of the Filler match...in the other thread.

I enjoyed a number of conversations I had with Bill (and Grady) during the 1992 US Open Straight Pool Championship (won by Sigel) held in NYC. They wonderfully commentated the matches recorded there. I'm fairly certain you attended that event and likely saw Bill there (prior to 1999). Maybe not. He was fairly busy much of the time there.

I was there, but I never caught up with Bill that week.

I remember watching that back when it ran on TV the first time it was shown. That's showing some years on things . I remember meeting
Mr Staton while playing in the One Pocket Tourny in Roanoke Va back years ago. He came over and introduced himself , must have talked over an hour about the game. Same tournament I got to meet Marshall Carpenter and Johnny Ervolino . I hadn't been in circulation for a long time when that tourny was going on, but I did finish well at the end of it all and beat some good players to get where I did.
